Thurrock bottom of the pile ! It’s not good by any means but wouldn’t put it last and Hilton Park above Gloucester services no way !!
Cardiff Gate gets my vote for being bottom of the pile.
More Moto in the bottom section than anyone else no surprise there and shock horror people are put off by the high prices of which WH Smith are the main culprits I will only buy a newspaper from there as that is the only item not subject to Smith’s blatant profiteering.
How the hell isnt Gloucester the winner, yes food is expensive but I’d rather eat there proper food than the rubbish XXl mega dooper whopper you see some drivers waddling back to there cab with…
Toilets and showers are spot on too,
Wetherby 3rd,my god that must have the worst truck park design ever and the exit truck have to give way to cars from the left on a busy day the stream of cars is endless and then the round a bout to get back on A1m can be as bad

My sentiments exactly.
First thing I thought on reading the article.
Obviously not asked any lorry drivers.
How on earth could 68% of people surveyed at Thurrock be satisfied!!â– â–
You find me 1 lorry driver that’s satisfied with Thurrock let alone 68%

That lorry park been a disgrace since they built it.
The exit at rear of garage used to be priority for Lorrys and cars had to wait but for some reason they changed it.
Must be one of worst msa lorry park in the country.

I’m satisfied that thurock is a ■■■■hole
Currently sat in Gloucester eating a bag of lovely biltong from the shop…
Yes it’s hella expensive here, but it’s a pleasant place to be unlike pretty much anywhere else.
Strange non of the â– â– â– â– â– â– â– ones going through the lakes are up there, or Gloucester.
Glad Bridgwater is in the bottom 5 though. That’s an awful services for trucks. Very poorly thought out parking area where you can easily be blocked in by someone parking their car.

London Bridge Train Station, WH SMiths, Lucozade, 1.99.
5 metres around the corner, small independent, 89p.
Pendejos.

I pass weatherby at least twice a week and have only been there once. Struggled to park then after my break took me over 10 mins just to get out of the services. The whole services is a bad design and unless I’m desperate I won’t be going again. Gloucester and Tebay (services and truckstop) are definitely the best
How are WHSmith still in business?
I went to the local one in a town centre the other day for a small bottle of coke and they wanted just under £2…

Any time I pass the one in town it’s mainly oldies or people looking for specific books (academics no doubt).
We all know oldies only go to places that they’ve been going to for years, so why change the habit of a lifetime.

So once they die WHSmith should die with them?
Personally don’t see the allure with them. Not once have a thought I’ll just pop to WHSmith and see if they’ve got this or that. In fact I think they only survive by ripping people off in MSA, airports etc
Here in the good old US of A I have seen many service areas, they are only on toll roads mostly but there are some on I-95 in CT which is not a toll road and they are all brand new and very good.
The best service area I have found on my travels here is in NH, it is the first in NH on I-93 after the tolls, they have no fast food shops such as McCrap or KFC etc, all the food stores are fresh food cooked right in front of you, there is a diner on one side where the food is awesome.
The worst area in the north east is Vince Lombardy service area in NJ, the place is scary to say the least, the truck parking area is huge and if I can find a spot near the building I feel slightly safer, once it is dark I lock the doors and close the curtains and don’t venture outside.
I don´t think there´s an allure to them, toonsy, it´s just they are …well…there.
I don´t mind who I buy my Lucozade from as long as I´m not being ripped.
WH SMiths take the ■■■■on prices because they´ve bought prime locations. Heavy footfall, needy travellers who havent got the local knowledge to buy more intelligently, need a drink right now, something to snack on etc.
Meanwhile I guarantee you that their contract with SHpping Mall, Train Station, MSA, whatever, will not allow a similar vendor within so many metres, or sightline, making WH Smiths the ONLY place to get your comestibles from.
Something at the back of my, admittedly â– â– â– â– â– â– memory recalls that they were voted crappest high street shop recently.
Ahh Pat, the land of service with a smile. Sounds great, can we have some?
A word of warning when overnighting at Oxford MSA: There are often rats running about the lorry park during the night.
