Berry Recruitment

Has anyone had dealings with this company?, any problems.

The word “recruitment” would for me start the alarm bells ringing.

Why would the word "Recruitment’’ start alarm bell ringing, a lot of agency’s, use it?

They “recruited” me 3 years ago, and then gave me no work offers until Christmas, when I was already booked up solid with the very work they were then offering me as “sub” at a lower hourly rate to boot.

Don’t bother.

Even my own agency guys laughed, sniggered, and scoffed when I mentioned I’d once signed up with them!

Thanks Winseer, I have signed up and done 2 weeks so far but having trouble being paid, all sorts of excuses, will let you know more after tonight’s shift.

The general impression I got after signing up was “We’ll chuck some dregs your way, which you may or may not do.”

I did turn down a 6 hour rigid shift in Oxford street @ £10ph, so it’s possible I didn’t get offered anything else because perhaps they realised I “wouldn’t be taking any old crap”… The round trip would have cost me a 3 hour commute and £40 in fuel, so I don’t think I was being unreasonable there. :open_mouth:

(I did eventually take a 10 hour shift @ 13.50ph later that year with another agency for pretty much the same type of work - multidrop around London stations instead of shops essentially.

I would say that as a non-driver specialist agency, they are probably better for office staff placements like Parkinsons Staff or Alfred Marks used to be.

Well I’m still having problems , as I am already a limited company, they say the can’t pay me in to that account because the name is different on the account, I’ve checked this and it’s not illegal, so now they all trying to get me to go with an umbrella company, I don’t see why I should pay someone to do something I can and have been doing for the last 4 years, should I cut my loses?

Definitely don’t ‘cut your losses’. The name on your bank account will have no bearing on them paying you as long as they pay to the sort code & account you give them on your invoice then that’s all that should be required - any excuse for not doing that & they are just trying it on.

Thanks Tallyman, they have promised my money by 4.30pm today, we will see, I’m due to go in at 7.00pm, but if I don’t get paid, I’m tempted to not go, but I don’t like to let the people down, as the job really suits me at the moment. we will see.

You’ve answered your own question there mate.

This is what I think of by the word “Recruitment”…

A mate of mine started for this Berry outfit a few weeks back, working for Andersons Transport near Sandy,Bedfordshire. He said he hasn’t been paid the hours he’s worked.Don’t know what rate he’s on,will find out.
Don’t know if he’s on PAYE or Umbrella Co.

Berry Recruitment are the only outfit I have ever had problems with. Despite providing them with a photo driving license and a passport, albeit the passport was 12 months past expiry, they wouldn’t even interview me until I had an in date passport… I did get them to acknowledge it was actually me in the passport, but they just pointed up to a sign that said without adequate ID they wouldn’t interview people… :open_mouth: Never had a problem with any other agency and needless to say I didn’t go back. Certainly not jumping through hoops just to prove I am British and entitled to work here, when they handing jobs out to newcomers just off the ferry. :imp:

If there’s one thing worse than getting paid “minimum wage” - It’s not being paid at all.
When you’ve already gone in to work somewhere for them - they bloody well know you’re legal, or the yard would not have taken you on! Surely that yard would be “suspicious” of any bod turning up with a local British accent - that they’re not going to be ■■■■■■ about, and you will make waves if they play the old brudder card of "get some mug to do the job, and then pretend there’s something wrong with the right to be paid. WTF? :open_mouth:

Well I got paid Friday , although not sure for what as I haven’t received a pay slip yet, and they paid me through this umbrella Co, which I told them I didn’t want anything to do with, so it looks like I won’t be staying.
