Great pictures - really enjoyed looking at them-if you have anymore please put them on
The reason i asked about Chester we heard a rumour he had prostrate trouble - Dad was always bumping into him at B&Q or Morrisons but hasn’t seen him for ages likewise i used to see him about in his Rav4 but not seen him either.
Was that girls name Sharon that took over Chesters Constructor when he went on the Seddon Atki
I think Piggys now in charge of the workshop

I will scan some more and put them on for you.
Next time I see Trevor I will ask how Chester is.
Sharon Odell took over Chesters 8 wheeler. She left Hadleys and started working for American Airlines and then moved up to Bawtry in Yorkshire. Im still in contact with Sharon and I know she has a few old Hadley pictures so I will let her know about this forum and see if she will put her photos on.
I still see Pig as well and he does run the workshop now.
I have also had a word with Bob Scott who works for me and that photo of Graham Chivertons Renault that has been on your workshop wall all them years is his old truck that he drove for Graham. He is going to dig his out as well so I will get them on here too.

I remember Hadley’s in the '60’s when they ran a fleet of mostly Bedfords and BMC’s from Hyde End Road. I used to have a notebook with all the reg numbers from that period, in fact it listed virtually every truck that was owned by a Reading company! Sadly I lost it some years ago. You mention Mick Dance, is he Jack’s son who used to have the fleet based at the Wee Waif on the A4? I went to Jack’s daughters (Jackie) wedding and I seem to recall that she had a younger brother and is Jack still with us? He ran a smart fleet in the 1960’s and '70’s before I left Reading.

Pete.

The first time I went on for Hadleys was in the old yard at Hyde End Road. They used to have some photos as you walked in the doorway of all the old S-Type Bedfords with Hadley of Shinfield on the door. I still know a few boys that work there so I will see if I can get hold of any old photos.
I am not sure if Micky Dance is related to the Jack Dance you mention.

Im glad you like the old pictures… Always just seems a waste to leave them in the bottom of the wardrobe!!
It was Trucking International that the write up was in, the Truck On Trail section… Roscos aggregate Daf against Chunkys Kerex.

HELLO THERE BOYZE and thankyou so much for posting that pic unloading cans at enfield (i must say you really looked after yourself then, you look sooo young !!). i remember going in there when i was on for stobarts, the dates on the cans were wrong and they refused the load. I then sat there for six hours while they decided that a) Rockwoods wont actually accept the load and b) I might aswell bring them back to Reading. Happy Days!?

Hi Boyze
According to the old man Jock/Mac’s real name was Chris McVitie
