altitude.
I remember Dave Wilson aka (Bulky). I worked with him on Benhams. He is still there in a roundabout way as they were taken over by D.I.G Bulk and then T.C. Barry at South Cerney near Swindon. He took his class 1 and last time i saw him he was driving a Volvo Globetrotter. I think he worked for Steve Gill for a little while driving an ex Sayers Scania but he is back on for T.C Barry now.
Thanks for that Boyze it’s good to know the old boys still about. I didnn’t realise T. C .Barry had got so big, I first met Terry in the 60s ( showing me age now!!! ) has been a good mate ever since, but it must be about 8 or 9 years since I last saw him. I wonder if old Bulky is still as big as he was?
John.
Dave aint changed at all mate still the same just older like the rest of us!!!
Did you know that Terry had passed away a few years back? You will proberley remember when the lorries were painted red and he was running Seddon Atkinson 400 and 401s. My dad worked for him years ago and i have some photo
s somewhere of the old trucks.
When Terry passed away his son Richard and a fella called Mark Featherstone took over the company. Mark bought Benhams out and started D.I.G Bulk with the 8 wheelers still on the Kenneth Wilson contract, pulling brewers grains out of the breweries and using Barrys for the artic work. They then started sharing the yard and within a few years Mark passed away and as if that was
nt enough bad luck Richard also passed away not long after that and im not sure who is running it now.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news if you did`nt know this already…
Bloody hell mate that’s just took the legs away from me need time to get over that. I did know about Richard how sad was that, he was a one off a good boy.If you don’t mind I will pm you on this, there’s only so much you want to put on an open forum, If your dad worked for Terry I’m sure I must know him, and I can remember seeing the the F10 about, so we must have met somewhere. I did 14 years on and off for J & B Swindon. As I said I will pm you Boyze.
Boyzy
Have sent you pm mate.
Just so everybody is aware Terry Barry from T.C Barry is alive and well and enjoying his retirement and i got the facts all mixed up and nearly had him buried before his time, for this i apologise. A lesson learned for me that facts should be checked before opening my big mouth. I have sent altitude a personal apology via a pm.
Hi, new to truck net just seen some info about Judd’s transport. My dad was John Cadman who died last year, he drove for billy Judd, an F88 Volvo. I’m lewis used to work for Brants of Tadley. I accompanied Dad on a trip to Tehran when Micky Prior took a break. I’m currently working for Hazel and Jeffries as a fitter. I’m interested who Maggie D is and did you work with us in Saudi for Matts? Also Boyze did you know my Dad? some great photos took me back! cheers Lewis
Great pictures of Sayers, I was a subbi for them for 11 years, 2 of those years for Deryke who bought them out.
The Sayers family still own the yard in Thatcham and rent it out to Scania, Berkshire Commercials and the Thatcham Insurance research company.

Hello Lewis, welcome to Trucknet… I did know your dad (although not well) and i am sorry to hear he has passed away. I think i remember you from Brants as well. Were you there the same time as Harry who was the Low Loader driver on the old Leyland Roadtrain?? He moved to Hadleys a few years back and i worked on and off for Dennis (when he was`nt sacking everybody). I still have nightmares about them old Routemans!!!
alanjblack.
Hello Alan its good to see you on here. I mentioned you earlier on in the post about your time on for Sayers and if i remember right you have some good photos of the Sayers days and that good looking Strato all painted up yellow, would be nice to see them on here if you get the time mate. Is my brother Dude still doing a bit for you??
Hi Boyze
Will look to see what photo’s I have.
Dude still does a bit for me, though he slept in and was 5 hrs late on delivery on last job he did,
Got a brand new Magnum 500 but he hasnt been allowed in that yet.
That sounds like Dude… He cant do them early mornings!!!
See if you can dig them old photos mate… Means spending Sunday in the loft blowing dust of all them old memories mate!!!
Found some pics of A.J.BLACK trucks.
First Strato,
2nd Strato,
1st of 5 Magnums, this was when the company went up to 26 vehicles.
Magnum with food grade tanker in 2006
Latest addition, new Magnum 500, on road 1.02.09. pulls tanker,
2 trips to Belgium a week with cream and loads juice or cooking oil back.
I see you`ve been up in the loft Alan!!! Good to see them old pictures, that Strato was a bloody good looking truck.
The yellow one stood out better than the ex Magiures one until it was dark… How many lights!!!
Lots of lights, they took most of the gear of the truck before it was snatched of them, alley wheels, auto lub ect. were both good trucks.
