Belgium Alcohol Limit Lowered

It has been proposed to lower the drink driving limits in Belgium from 0.5 to 0.2. I imagine this will come in line with France and it wont be long before you will need to carry a breathalyser to stop petit Pierre nipping over the border to have a pincher in Dirks bar.

Nothing wrong with the idea, except it only affects professional drivers and lorry drivers, so Marcelle can still drive his car whilst ■■■■■■ :open_mouth:

In addition to the lower alcohol limit, fines are being increased for everyone to promote road safety.

I will find out more of the implementation date shortly.

To put the drink driving into perspective, we in the UK still allow 0.8 milligrams of alcohol in a millilitre of blood

Used to amaze me how many people in belgium would blatantly be driving with a can of juliper on the go (other brands of belgian beer are available but this seems to be the weapon of choice by the masses). :open_mouth:

I think road safety would be greatly enhanced in Belgium if an offence of “Driving while being Belgian” was introduced.

That idea could be expanded considerably…

I have always blamed it on the Catholic religion, they seem to think a set of rosary beads will protect them from 44t of lorry

I think the limit in France is 0.5,that’s why, when the new law regarding carrying a breathalyser kit comes in in France,a UK kit won’t be accepted.

And it’s not just drink-driving they should be cracking down on in Belgium,it should be seat belts, speeding and using mobile phones too.
Oh yeah, and kids and dogs sitting on the drivers lap!
