Beet to Bury St Edmunds help

Hi all

I start a new job on Monday and have been told to take a pre-loaded trailer to Bury St Edmunds beet factory. I have never been to this factory before only Wissington. Can anyone tell me where the access is? Is it off of the main A14 roundabout? I’ll be coming along the A14 from Cambridge direction.

Thanks

A14, off at the A143 jct (don’t know the jct no) head towards Diss, next roundabout take last exit and straight in through the Beet entrance, follow everyone else then.

That’s easy enough  Thanks for the help.

A14 J43 eastbound.

around the roundabout to “x” marks the spot,

gets you to here…

…and in you go.

Is this to deliver beet? If so, the above post is incorrect. Beet goes in round the back. Off at J43, first exit at roundabout. Then at the next round about the 4th exit takes you straight in

Sorry, should of said that I was delivering beet. I’ll use these instructions “A14, off at the A143 jct (don’t know the jct no) head towards Diss, next roundabout take last exit and straight in through the Beet entrance, follow everyone else then.”.

Thanks to all for the information.

The local farmers usually lay a trail for you to follow at each roundabout anyway!

Pete.

You did say you are delivering beet, it says so in the subject question lol

There really is no hope for me

When you go in, you will need to stop & undo your twistlocks and leave just your offside ring on. Not sure how you’ll get on having your British Sugar pass validated though. When you are on the pad to tip, the banksman will back you up and open tailboard. Tip up, pull forward then when load is off you need to stop until body is completely down. Don’t drive with body up. Weigh out, then off weighbridge to close your tailboard. Don’t get out of your cab until you’ve weighed out.

Different to wissy then. Nearside ring at wissy and you tighten before weighing out.

Was down that way on friday delivering packaging to bessington mushrooms (horrible place to find incidently the a143 is j43.

Come off the A14 for Diss A143 turning, go left up a bit of dual c’way for around 800yds, then you come to a roundabout, left is A134 to Thetford, straight over is entrance to a yard (Steve Lumley) next exit (2’o’clock) is the A143 to Diss, the next exit before you come back on yourself is a set of gates, this is the entrance for beet

goo.gl/maps/k3nAN
where the lorry is turning left is the Thetford road
where the cars are parked is the Steve Lumley entrance
where the red and white van is coming from is the A143 Diss road
behind the red car and the 4wheel drive car is a set of gates with A written on them, that is actually the beet entrance and where you need to go.

Fantastic information. Thanks everyone

Apologies… That entrance I gave is where the trailers are parked… The entrance “round the back” (shown in kindle530’s photolink behind the red car) always seems to be closed up the same as in the pic when I’m down that way at night…

The gates are only open daily when they are taking beet Winseer.
Someone comes and closes them every night, and opens them in the morning, when the campaign has finished they stay shut.

Perhaps too few of our industries work around the clock - which is more what I’m used to…
I did a day shift on the skog today. Felt thoroughly uncomfortable to me!
Can’t see any reason why our factories can’t take input during the night hours, when the roads are nice and quiet…

it would make too much sense!!
