Heres one of Peter Roff’s F12’s on a mission.

That looks like Pete’s very first F12, if i remember correctly everyone after that one was a Globetrotter.

I popped an article on page 7 about Peter Roff.

Vauxhall Bedford.

Even when Pete was driving an old AEC Mandator for Avery’s it was always in the best condition it could be for its age and amount of work it had done.

We had some work on our Detroit powered TM done at Shaw and Kilburn in Luton as our local dealer,Weston’s garage in Hitchin didn’t do engine work on the big TM’s.
Weston’s is finally being demolished now after standing empty for years.

Its a shame that all the old dealers and hauliers yards are disappearing and being built on. Nice pic of the wrecker Dave.

H.E.Payne Bedford TL 1984.

Then there was Arlington, Bedford’s Bedford agent…Arlington had quite a few dealerships.

LOL… I remember the Herbalist shop… " Horsenails " in St Johns St, it was just around the corner from the Rootes Group garage I did my apprenticeship in, Nicholls & Sons… The only advert name I do not recognise is the Plant Hire advert as I do not remember them.

Originally Kevin was based at the old petrol station on the left out of Hockliffe as you go towards Milton Keynes, then he moved up to Toddington Services for a period of time.

Bumped into an old mate of mine today who also worked at Shanks when I was there, him and his family started a business doing drilling/drainage etc and have grown to quite a sizeable company in relatively short space of time. Here’s one of his volvos.

Barretts of Aspley, predominantly steelwork manufacturers but have now branched out into plant and crane hire too. Their yard is next door to where Shanks used to be on brogborough Hill.

This is one of Barretts plant hire lorries

Were they not farmers originally at the bottom of Brogborough hill and the entrance now is next door to the old Dogging layby…
If I remember the farm correctly I am sure it was Barretts.
