This was a bit of a rare old motor. Would that have been factory spec or converted does anyone know ?

I remember this vehicle being operated by a father & son team, I think they were from the Basildon area, something is telling me that they carried out the axle conversion themselves along with a clever fuel tank system, small tank to get the vehicle to Dover then over to the large tank carrying special fuel.

That would have been one of Des Lacys trailers out of Edmonton.

Dave.

Wheel Nut:
I never associated Bedfords with Pickfords!

Malc most depots had at least one we had 3 at sheffield a 4 wheeler for carrying the heavy gang tackle and 2 12 ton payload artics and they were usually very busy as we had a wharehouse and storage and a lot of machinery came in on flats or tilts and was delivered on the Bedfords as it was mostly unloaded by back wheels out and onto skates to be winched inside and positioned.
The thing I recall is they never got a straight forward load it was wide, high or hand off load as if the load was a crane off it went on a flat but you soon learnt how to fasten awkward pieces of machinery down and sheet them, a lot being top heavy.
cheers Johnnie

i found this picture of the bedford in its working days, (not my photo)

A few foreign bedfords.

Till you start looking you dont realise just how many bedfords were sold in Europe.

Hope i have got this right, i did a search to try and find a thread that dealt with various Bedfords in one place but failed. They will of course pop up in other threads relating to the topic but i thought prehaps a thread to cover others would be welcome, if its wrong our moderator can always move the items so here goes with a couple of TKs

Hi les
