Motor Transport state today that the above old established car delivery company has bit the dust, blaming dieselgate and general lack of car sales I wonder who in that industry will be next?
They had O licenses for 69 vehicles.
The other problem car transport operators face is Walon t/a BCA Logistics they it would appear are trying to control the market by driving the competitors out of business, they are operating in excess of 1200 vehicles and with them controlling most of the used car market how do other firms compete.
BCA is controlled by Mr Tinklers good friend! Avril Palmer Baunack.
He’s back.
Mr 6ylt do you ever post good news, about old established transport companies, or just closures and bankruptcy… Bet your a bag a larfs at a party.
They also went ■■■■ up in 2004.
Ken.

People at supermarket as well go and buy more cheap food than in local shop. Why need psy more■■?
Always got to sneak brexit in there instead of just taking responsibility for their own ■■■■ management. Bca/ecm are and loads of smaller companies are advertising so can’t be that bad.
I think it is important to remember that car transport is a ridiculously competitive sector, which may have contributed to the downfall of the aforementioned.
It wasn’t so long ago that you could buy 10 vehicles from BCA Blackbushe and have them delivered to Glasgow for £75.00 a unit. It is not possible to make a profit running at those rates. Anyone with a modicum of common sense can see that you are spinning the wheels for the sake of it and barely covering costs.
It’s easy to point the finger at brexit, dieselgate etc, but nothing detracts from the “Turnover Vanity - Profit Sanity - Cash In The Bank Reality” statement.
New car production droped ready 2 years ago.If less profuced car that need less moved.Due this reason some company lost revenue. If Honda go out that somebofy else will go.
Steve H is quite right, the safest operators are not just car carriers, they are into storage, preparation of new, refurb of defleets, and very much into the rental sector, where the transporters are very much involved in the full customer service thing and not simply hire and reward.
Sadly some people think you can operate car transporters for the same costs as a normal artic carrying bog rolls, this aint never, and never will be, the case.
Sorry to see Beamish go though, a nicely kept fleet and they had some very good competent drivers that can think, if local employers have any sense they’ll be offering these lads jobs pronto.

Several years ago we were working for a number of both British & French insurers both repatriating British vehicles from France/Spain to the UK after mechanical failure or RTC Damage and French/Spanish vehicles the other way. Not any more. Profit is simply non-existent, unless you are doing massive volume.
The covered vehicle movement game is currently being decimated by people with Landrover Disco’s and Brian James Race Shuttle Trailers working outside the scope of O Licencing Etc.
I think what little is left in Automotive Logistics will be finished up in a couple of years.
We are looking at diversifying into other things and have carried on with our Commercial Workshop and knocked Hire & Reward on the head, before it knocked us on the head.
The other sizeable issue facing the Automotive Logistics sector is that it requires both office and road going staff with a little bit of savvy in order not to cause mass destruction. (These people are few and far between - Most that are any good are already doing it for themselves, or have made the sensible decision to GTFO)
Mark my words, Conference & Exhibition Trucking will be next, once someone gets a grip of it and carves that right up…

I was laid off from MCD IN 2008, shortly before they went bust and was reliably informed they were charging £45 a car delivery at the end.

Must be very recent - saw one of their guys pulling out of Poole Friday lunchtime with motorhomes on board.
Any body got any updates on Beamish ■■?
Mate told me yesterday most of the fleet and drivers have been swallowed up by BCA.
