Mate reckons he used his barclay card to get back to the yard the other day. He ran out of time couple of hours away, couldnt use his magnet cos he was in bran new hire motor so stuck his barclay card in the tacho. Apparently the chips in same place as digi card and just keeps tacho on break, works a treat he claims.

Any truth to this bank card/phone card replacing digi card business or is it drivers bull?

put my digi card in a cash point next to a tosco,it said come back in 45 mins and put pin number in :open_mouth: so did some other work :wink: with a shopping trolly in the wines and spirits aisle :smiley: :smiley: :smiley:

The chip will be in the same place in any standard smart card - including bank cards, mobile phone SIM that is still in the full size card, Sky TV viewing card, Virgin Media viewing card, various security smart cards. None of these other cards will work in a digital tachograph - the directory structure and contents do not match a tachograph card, so the tacho head will spit out the incorrect card. If, exceptionally, the tacho accepts another card, the effect will be the same as driving without a card - it is still an infringement.

Indeed, if you’re unlucky when trying other cards, you may manage to generate one of the errors where the tacho believes it is being tampered with, which is an offence and may require a visit to a tachograph centre to recalibrate and reset the tacho.
