Isn’t it illegal to park on a pavement anyway?

You MUST NOT park partially or wholly on the pavement in London, and should not do so elsewhere unless signs permit it. Parking on the pavement can obstruct and seriously inconvenience pedestrians, people in wheelchairs or with visual impairments and people with prams or pushchairs.
Law GL(GP)A sect 15
So yes it is. But it’s usually overlooked so long as no obstruction is being caused to the footpath & people can get past (don’t know about London), otherwise traffic wardens would be having field days on residential streets up and down the country.
I don’t think anybody here is in any doubt as to where you can and can’t park by law, or that the driver in the pictures was legally in the wrong.
Years ago when i did multidrop in a class2 i had a customer in a one way street and everytime i parked on the pavement ( the loading bay was always full of cars ) and i had no problem…
this customer always got alot of stuff so it always took me at least half an hour to deliver to them…
but one day i was delivering and a traffic warden came over and told me to get off the pavement or he was going to book me, so i asked him what was i supposed to do and he said i was allowed to block the road off !!
so i did and i ended up being shouted and swore at by car drivers for all the time it took me to do the delivery !!
and surprise surprise the warden had ■■■■■■ off by this time
anyway after that any time i had that delivery i went back to parking on the pavement and i never saw the warden again

Actually if you read it properly. No its not. Its only against the law in London. The police and councils Can ticket you IF there are signs Or you are causing an obstruction. Thats the law. But yes this vehicle has caused an obstruction. … and the OP has gone about this the wrong way to be honest…

It may only be against that particular law (which applies to all vehicles) in London, but S19 Road Traffic Act 1988 applies throughout England and Wales and relates specifically to HGVs.
