Fair enough but most of that looks old damage. Your point is??
No point. But a picture says a thousand words.
Twenty yards away he could have parked on a much wider & quieter road,& got the Forkie to drive to him there, thus not obstructing the pavement & not causing damage to the pavement.
.
how far can an un-taxed/insured/MOTd fork lift truck travel on a public highway?

Do you stick your nose into everyones business?
Yes ! When my missus can’t get her shopping trolley past this inconsideratly parked wagon.
Professional Driver ?..I don’t think so.
You should have said you lived in the house that this chap has deposited his wagon right in front of.
Now the pictures don’t show the topography of the local area but how many on this thread would be cool about him leaving that wagon outside their front door unless it was absolutely necessary to achieve delivery?
It really wouldn’t bother me. I don’t tend to look out my front window into the street and go, “ah ■■■■ if only I could see the house across the street one more time…”

Put another way, would you park like this on your driving test ? No you wouldn’t.
Are you expected to tip on your test?
No, therefore your point is meaningless.
If you were a driver you would have come across situations like this.
Chances are he was told to park there, there’s been times i’ve parked like that and I’m not going to tell them no and not get tipped and have to go home with a full load then get a grilling from the boss or sacked.

I would be peachy with it and would offer the lad a cuppa because some muppet had a go at him for doing the best he could, come on cut the lad some slack nobody got hurt and I bet he was tipped and on his way in no time ,we drivers no how tight and difficult some jobs can be , I bet every driver on here has had to park in a [zb] of a place some time or another … Really gents think about what some of you are saying
gus607:
No, he was not told to park there. Spoke to the Forkie today.
FFS let it drop man. Christ, you’ll give yourself a bloody stroke if you carry on stressing about small stuff like this. get over it, it happened, it’s finished

How do you know that when he arrived the better parking position you mention wasn’t taken? Lost count of the amount of occasions I have parked somewhere unideal for lack of anywhere else & then as soon as you get the first cage on the tail lift a load of spaces open up. Sods law.
Even if the driver was in the wrong and just being inconsiderate, just get over it. So the pavement was blocked for 10 minutes & a couple of people had to walk around it. Not worth getting stressed about. I’m sure if an old dear had turned up with a trolley and couldn’t pass either the driver or forkie would have helped her around if there was no other way.
As an ex-driver I’ll give you a new slant on this. It’s not the mounting the pavement bit that worries me as much as how close he is to the ageing house.
I now work in a council dealing with buses and bus shelters etc and I’ve had issues siting bus shelters and erecting signs on footways like that due to cellars under the properties which extend out under the pavement! In one case there was no external sign of the cellar being there either - like gratings or windows etc. Now I’m not saying there are cellars in the location shown but how do you know for sure?! I wouldn’t park a wagon on a pavement right next to an older house now, besides damage to the shallow tarmac and the chance of going through a likely lesser-grade manhole cover etc, because you could end up with a hell of an insurance claim and a tricky recovery job depending on how heavy you are.
I don’t like busy bodies either but sometimes they might have a point
gus607:
Last year a pedestrian broke his ankle after tripping on a sunken manhole cover where this wagon was parked, caused by heavy trucks mounting the pavement here.
should of given him a pat on the back, obviously he is a decent chap who had decided to park his vehicle there to stop other pedestrians from tripping.
None of us really know what the particular score is on this one.
We’re all lorry drivers here & know what a ball ache it can be, I just find it blinkering that on some of the issues discussed on here, lots of folk default to immediately defending one of the brothers just because they are lorry drivers.
I’ll be the first to defend a chap if it’s proved he’s in the right but purely his reaction to the op trying to get his missus along the pavement with the shopping speaks worlds to me if it’s been reported accurately.
Just explain what the score is & be cool about it, the OP might have invited him in for a tea & a bunk up with the wife while he watches then see (joke).
