I’ve not been behind the wheel for a few years but am thinking of stepping back into the cab to help out with store deliveries etc at this difficult time.
Question is- is there genuinely a need at the moment? I don’t want to take work off those who drive full time for a living, justvtrying to do my bit.
I will need to renew my dCPC (once the online stuff is a bit more widely available.
What are peeps’ thoughts? Please be nice!!
I haven’t seen a mad rush for drivers, enough companies seem to have already offered their services to the supermarkets… Don’t believe what the press and agencys are saying. There’s not a driver shortage.

I thought as much…
I will possibly hold fire for the minute… Any input appreciated though.
I understand this is “unprecedented” (supposedly) however there are only so many bays at the rdc’s so only so many lorries can be loaded at a time. The stores always blame the rdc when I know for a fact having worked at one in on as a warehouse operative there is no shortage of such and such are the stores tipping drivers as soon as they arrive because they are desperate for bathroom tissue or hand sanitizer or what ever? or is it situation normal and it takes 2 hours to be tipped or more like xmas when the lorries are being used as extra storage. Only those that do supermarket work in artic’s can really answer that.
I am also at a loose end work wise. The building sites are closed so there are plenty of drivers filling in so I don’t suppose that my services will be necessary either. I would like to do some work though.
I think when you check the other threads out and drivers are being furloughed and onto 80% wages that should answer your question

Did supermarket work not last week, week before - a maximum of 45 mins to get tipped at store but after 1st run, 2 to 3 hours at the depot waiting for a second run.
Never heard any of them moaning about the RDC in store either
I work on containers but have been doing supermarket work. There are lots of drivers but less work. You will find nearly the big groups are doing supermarket work.
