Hey everyone, I am sorry if I have neglected you all for such a long time but I had actually forgotten about the forum, I was recently reminded of you all after a message from Dave who manages TrucknetUK, so I will try to keep in touch with you all.
My job is unchanged since my last post, still pulling for Foodliner and mainly delivering from Yonkers NY to Ben and Jerry’s in Vermont but the job is even better now than in the past, it’s now the best tanker job in the USA and I am treated like a God.
Some years ago I was taken sick and gradually became weaker and weaker every day, sometimes I found it hard to walk from my truck across the road to my house and one morning as I was struggling to pull hoses out of a tanker to sterilize them I almost collapsed and a fellow driver made me sit down and he did the work, at home that night my wife talked me into going to the doctor on Saturday morning, I had blood drawn and made my way home, that night I got a call from a laboratory in Vermont telling me to get to the ER right away because my blood levels were critical, I told them to [zb] off because I had a load to deliver on Monday morning, “Mr Hasler, if you don’t go to the ER you won’t be alive on Monday morning” said the lady.
I hung up and she immediately called again and my wife answered and listened before dragging me to Glens Falls hospital. It was discovered that I had a very rare blood cancer called ‘Waldenstrom’s’ I am not even going to try and spell the full name of the disease but I was given a 2 year limit to my life and started chemotherapy immediately, I had to go through this every Friday afternoon for 5 months until my specialist got my insurance company to let me try a truly amazing drug called Imbruvica and my life outlook improved from a 2 year death sentence to a full and normal life span.
Foodliner has really looked after me, they make sure I attend every regular appointment at the cancer center and I don’t lose a penny of my weekly guarantee which has greatly increased from the $1,200 a week to the current guarantee of $1,500 from Monday to Friday and an extra $150 if I deliver on a Saturday or Sunday. I still do the Ben and Jerry’s runs but I also go out to the mid west with molasses and they always make sure I am home by Friday night.
Last May I emailed the upper management in Iowa and asked for an automatic truck because with the cancer pain in my left leg I couldn’t take the pain when holding the clutch down in standing traffic, I got a call from Iowa the following day to tell me to come to Dubuque and get my new truck, never driven an automatic truck in my life before this one and never want to go back.
If by some remote chance any of you can get a green card and want a good job, I recommend you apply here , you won’t find a better job in the USA.
