B&Q Burton

They alright tipping? Got an 8am slot tomorrow and I recall they have some stringent rules about when to turn up But cant remember the rules

Think it’s to do with an adjacent school.
They will look you in,at certain times.

NO more than 30 mins early, or its Ā£1k fine…and these can be awkward, as they have limited space to park you up according to them :open_mouth:

And you can get trapped in there when the curfew comes into play when the local school is kicking out :unamused:

Last time I was in there, the trailer park was full of their kit Prof. :unamused:

As good an excuse to jump the queue as any I suppose

Have not been there for about 10 months Stanley we either have a 9 or a 10 am booking and ten is there breakfast time so why they give us that time I will never know that said they start to slope of about 9.40

Yeah same as today, 8am booking but the curfew starts at 8am :unamused:

I got in off the road at 7.45 and hid for a bit.

Are you serious? A 1k fine for being EARLY. please tell me that’s a wind up. If not this country never needed a recession, it just needs ā– ā– ā– ā–  like this going in industry.

Are they decent enough to at least give you the option, ā€œwe can let you in and wait drive but your company will receive a Ā£1k fine for this, or you can go away and come backā€. Or do they just allow you to wait and slap on the fine whilst keeping quiet.

Its in the supplier T&Cs…we are instructed to NEVER approach any of their DCs before the booking time -30 mins…same if you are running behind, let them know and it goes well…no fine

Its your choice if you want to work with them, nobody holds a gun to your head…you do your bit, and they tend to do their bit

I know all that but we all know it’s not ALWAYS possible to stop short and wait. Come down the A38 and every lay-by could be full etc. Seems a bit stupid really. On the other hand I don’t really care as a driver. If the office tell me ā€œjust go and try earlyā€ then I will do. A Ā£1000 fine isn’t for me to worry about

I had a problem at the Doncaster B and Q. First visit so I left a bit early and arrived 40 mins before my slot. No where to park in the area. I blame people like Stanley for agreeing to contracts like this. Fined for being too early or late or turned away. There are that many delays today it is getting so hard to make the narrow time slots. If you find parking most times it is full. Why not do something for the drivers?

Do what? A grand fine, imposed by whom, and enforceable by whom?

Oh FFS…I do work for three different suppliers into B&Q, how do I suddenly become the blame, Ive accepted the terms, and in five years, I have not had one fine`…because I listen, and just get on with it.

The trade off is that you are turned round within an hour, which they normally do, Doncaster Redhouse being the best, although they have one shift which is tommy tank up there…But even this particular bunch are better than a lot out there.

The delays you mention have to be managed, and B&Q have enough trucks of their own to know the score. All we need to do if there are delays en route is to inform them, they don`t throw their toys out the pram, they just thank you for the information and amend your ETA… :unamused:

The fines come through to the supplier via a debit note, which is enforceable, as its in their T&Cs regarding supply.

The curfew is also enforceable, as its their site, and the barrier does not go up…simples.

You get a warning with every delivery when its booked in, some hauliers dont pass this info on, but thats their fault not letting the driver know the score.

Its the only B&Q site with this problem`, all the others are in purpose built DCs, not an Ex Branston Pickle factory [true]…

If we are too early, we use the New Oakmoor cafĆ© on the A38 N/B @ Barton-Under-Needwood, plenty of parking and a decent cuppa… :bulb:
