Can’t answer about Lockerbie, but I work out of chippenham and regularly bring home 600+ all in. The jobs easy enough and nobody chasing you.
As for fridays, they do tend to be relatively late, but then it does seem to be the norm these days.
Kits decent, if a little basic in spec.
Never driven a Jenks wagaon but I have been planned by their planners in a Stobart Biomass wagon and I wouldn’t touch em. The planners are arrogant sods who seem to think that a couple of months behind a desk with a phone makes them a better judge of road conditions than a driver. If you eve make the mistake of informing them you have plans for a saturday, they will run you out of hours on the Friday night. They will expect maximum hours out of you every day and complain like you shot their first born if you don’t comply. 90+% of the time they will run you out of hours at some farm or powerstation on the arse end of nowhere with no access to facilities or phone signal what so ever.
As I said, I wouldn’t drive for them if they were the last operators left.

Lockerbie IIRC. Mainly some bloke called Mike who systematically set too and destroyed all my weekend plans for about a month before I told Stobart and Jenkinsons to go fornicate themselves.

Worked for them out of Penrith for about a year , I was lucky had a cracking planner (ex driver) and “clean” walking floor taske . They like there pound of flesh but I only had 1 Friday niteout in a year and that was a sawmill was down in South Wales and couldn’t get me loaded till sat . Some of the drivers hated it it really does depend on what work your doin , some people do mostly waste some like me do all chips bark composite paper and palletised composite for garden centres pot luck unfortunately mate . I left because of the travel Durham -Penrith and back on Friday was killing me but that was only reason 600+ in bank every week and your not on hours it’s a day rate plus nite out plus fuel bonus give me a ring

Do they run 4 on 4 off shifts out of lockerbie? Or is it all Monday to Friday tramping?

If i go in the yard at Lockerbie late on a friday i don’t see many empty parking spaces. I’ve been planned by Mike in the past and found him to be a decent bloke.

Not at all. I worked like a bloody trojan for a month. I just found it very highly suspicious that the only times they needed me to night out on a Friday was days I was at the race track on Saturday.
Mike is of questionable competance, as shown by the fact he thinks its highly achievable to do Northamption to Co-Op Thurrock, Co-Op Thurrock to Shoeburyness to reload, then Shoeburyness to Chelford (Knutsford) at 43t on a nine hour drive, 13 hour day, on the first day of the school summer holidays. He is also short of temper because he started getting rather abusive when I told him it was flatly impossible. Guess what, I ended up spending that Friday night at Hilton Park, rather than at home in Sheffield getting ready for an important event at Brands Hatch.
Being fair though, its not exclusive to AWJ planners, Stobart planners also cant tell their arse from the elbow. They just don’t become abusive when their stupidity is pointed out to them in a semi-polite fashon.
