Avatar pics

Ok chaps It’s me again getting all ambitious after I’ve poste 2 (count’em) pics
Somewhere there’s apost that shows how to do an avatar pic. But I can’t find It.
Any help please
Jim

if you want to upload an avatar straight from your computer it should be no more than 80 pixels square and no more than 8 KB.

To upload the picture go “User Control Panel / Profile / Edit Avatar” then use the box titled “Upload from your machine:” to browse to the image you want to upload.

Good luck

Tacho, I’d be knackered without you !
As usual I’m struggling with de sizing , on my iPhone the only measurements Options I get are 3x2
3x5
3x3
4x6
5x7
8x10
16x9
Original
Square
I know the 8x10one is suitable for normal posting but not yet worked out how to reduce size of pic
Thanks
Jim

I don’t use an iPhone so can’t say for certain what settings there are, but you probably won’t be able to resize an image to an avatar size without image editing software, your best bet is to do it on-line.

You can resize an image on-line by doing this:

Remember that when you adjust an image on-line you upload the image but the original stays on your computer, so you can play with the settings safe in the knowledge that the original image is safe on your computer.

Go to this web page

Uploading the image

  1. Click on the browse button to upload the image you want to resize.

  1. When you’ve uploaded the image click the Adjustment button.

Cropping the image

2A. If you have a large image and only want to use a small portion of it for the avatar you will need to crop the image, so press the crop button.

If you want to resize the whole image you can ignore this part.

2B. Drag the corner parts (red arrows) to select the part of the image you want to keep, then click the Apply button.

When you’ve cropped the image you’ll be returned to the Adjustment screen.

Resizing the image

  1. Click the resize button.

3_pixlr_resize.png

  1. Type the size you want the image to be in the two boxes, for an avatar be sure that the biggest size is no more than 80 pixels.

If you don’t want to constrain the width to height proportions click the small button underneath the width box.

Then press the Apply button.

Saving the image

  1. Click the Save button.

5_pixlr_save.png

  1. use the slider (red arrow) to adjust the file size, the smaller the file size the lower the image quality, then press the save button and choose where on your computer you want to save the image.

If you use Tapatalk for iPhone then it will automatically scale the avatar and upload it to your profile. It’s also a great forum browsing app

Only trouble is I don’t really have a pic I want to use at the minute thinking of getting some new ones taken when back at work tomorrow.
Keep watching for further developments in my techcomputering type thingy education I didn’t think I was doin bad for a 1953 model but he’lll I feel so thick sometimes

It resizes the avatar image. Not any other images though.

Happy New Year to you both.
