Is there any trainer got automatic Vehicle in their fleet yet, Around Northwest Area, It’s been 9 month i have passed my Class 2 and now thinking of doing Class 1 as well after i come back from holiday thanks.
We have full size artic auto as well as brand new w+d auto. Although we’re at Mansfield, residential courses are the same price as non-residential so may be worth considering.

You would not regret going with Peter’s outfit if you can cope with time away, many positive reviews on here.
Can you expand on Northwest a bit? The reputable people around me are System Training (Carlisle) and Nith Cree (Dumfries). Last I heard both had manuals but I passed as the law was changing.
Th2013 I know pete has very good reputation here and a good pass rate as well, but he’s way too far from me, I can’t stay overnight anywhere else apart from my house. That’s why Iam looking around in northwest area. Thought I will ask here.
Try John @ Chevron Training. I don’t know if he’s got auto but it’s worth a call.
Pete
Elgv manchester have them.
Why not a manual ■■?
I was driving a manual last week ( although I passed my test in manual ) it not as hard as you think trust me if I can do it anyone can
I think it’s easier to learn an unfamiliar manual box on your own in your own time, rather than stressing about getting it looking smooth and exhibition standard for a test during training. My rigid test was with a straight 6 with splitter. Never driven one since. All rigids since have been straight 6 (or less) or auto. My artic was with a slap over 4 beside 4. Again, not had once since. Since passing only driven auto and a 4 over 4 which I taught myself over the course of a morning.
So the argument that driving a manual prepares you for real life has not the case for me. That said I don’t have a normal driving job so don’t experience the range of vehicles others might.
So, if he wants an auto, why not! If I did it again I sure would, might have passed C first time then and saved a heap!
In 1988 I had been driving straight 4s, 5s and 6s in cars and 7.5s - I then took my then HGV class 1 (now C+E) test in a straight 6
Since 1988 I have driven many sorts of manuals and autos with other drivers giving me a few pointers if I had not driven a particular type before
How is that any different to driving a straight 5 car then doing auto in C and C+E nowadays ?
Common sense and logic says there is no difference
Thx guys for the replys the only reason I want to go with auto is less to think about gears and more to check mirrors and get familirize with the length of the vehicle. Pass or fail we can only wait for that, Thanks boris i will get in touch with elgv to see how much do they cost and all.
