Australian companies willing to sponsor

I want to be an EX pat but I want to move to Aussie NSW (sydney)in particular any idea of any aussie companies that are sponsoring us truckers ?

In my experiance nil, none, nada. Sorry pal :cry:

Rodger That !!

Australia is one of the hardest countries to get into.Truck drivers are not on skilled professions list so almost impossible to get here.Check with australian immigration.

The only way i have heard getting into oz is the roundabout way thru New Zealand.Live there for two years then come to oz.

Hey Cob

The latest craze down here is a 418 visa you may want to look at that and see where it goes. Plenty of Pommies down here doing it good lot of 10 quid johnnies but some newies as well

Cheers good luck

Willy kindly posted a link to an Aussie drivers’ site a couple of days ago but sadly I had to shift it temporarily in case it contravenes our rules on this score.

However, it is an interesting site and might be of use to some wishing to turn upside down, so anyone wanting details just PM me and I’ll give it back.

If Willy’s original post can be restored (it is awaiting attention higher up the chain :wink: ) it will be, for all to see. :laughing:

Whats a 418 Visa… :slight_smile:

Unless you want to be a student.I cannot see how a truck driver can get into Australia.Unless he/she has a trade to come under the skilled workers scheme,
as truck driving does not come under (and doesn’t look like changing shortly)under this umbrella ,sure australia is going through a skills shortage like the rest of the world .The last 30 yrs it has been taboo for parents to get kids to go into trades.Now Builders ,carpenters ,mechanics,fitters and turners can earn more than lawyers,But truck driving in Australia still considered non-skilled proffession.So no-entry to GODS COUNTRY :smiley: :smiley: :smiley:

Gidday

I got a private message from old mate asking about the 418 visa. I made a mistake it is a 457 Visa

Here is a couple of links
ozprodrivers.com.au/e107_plu … ic.php?605
457visa.com/
immi.gov.au/skilled/skilled- … /index.htm

Basically it is a temp visa for foreign workers. The Transport Workers Union TWU over here is jumping up and down cause it reckons you blokes are unsafe? christ get a grip on themselves. The TWU is not real liked in the trucking world down here bunch of plonkers. Plenty of emotion and scare tactics. Best not bring your union ways down under is all I will say. There are plenty of good quality jobs in Aus for those that want to settle down and work, drink beer and sun themselves by the Barby.

There are plenty of foreign boys and gals down here doing a good job I will tell you.

Cheers

A few trucking companies you might want to contact,large players Down Under;
atatruck.net.au/member_companies.html

Hey mate thanks for that, but , sorry to say I have contacted every one of the ATA linked firms (about 2 years ago).Never got a reply from a single one :unamused:

I also had an email from the ATA itself basically telling me to try and find a sponsor myself as they could’t really help.

Time is short for me as I’m soon to be classed as too old!!! so (with a few irons in the fire) if you can help don’t hesitate a pm .

Here is The New South Wales,NSW,State wages for truck drivers.When you take into account the $ conversion to UK Pound and cost of living you can understand why no one wants to drive trucks Down Under;

industrialrelations.nsw.gov. … rrentrates

At a large Distribution Centre forklift drivers wage start at $28.00 P/Hr fulltime day shift.

Shade,
I will later list a few of the trucking companies Down Under and see how you go contacting them.
Still,as mentioned before,the best bet is to go to New Zealand and after a couple of years you can enter Australia.100’s of 1,000’s Tongans,Kiwis,Pacific Islanders,Eastern Bloc Europeans etc have been using this route for years.

Thanks a mill Boots , will look forward to your info . Gotta dash at the mo but will be in touch soon. :smiley:

is the time you have to stay in nz not now something like 5 years?

This Pdf file shows 5 pages of trucking company ads for drivers;

Takes a while to download,but it is from a current magazine and is very detailed :sunglasses:

I meet this pommy bloke this year in Melbourne from Bath who was sponsored by a bloke. He had to live and work with him for 2 or 4 years but he said it was also thru a Govt scheme. He was in the Barossa Valley or Riverland SA and was happy with the arrangement. To qualify he had to go where there was a shortage of drivers and the Govt told him where he had to live and work.
He ws happy with it as it got him the green light for residency.
Can’t tell ya anymore about it.

Cheers
