Flying induces this behavior.
Also pre-placard days. Note the mechanical hand above the driver’s mirror.
Is that what it is for? I do remember the ones on a long arm as a right turn signal. Also the mechanical hand which arose slowly and creepily from the dashboard of the 8 legger I drove with that cab, if the air tank was low.
The mechanical arm had a moveable hand, in the horizontal position it meant turning right, vertical meant slowing or turning left. It pretty much emulated the normal hand signals that car drivers had to use, before blinkers were compulsory.
An expensive day for someone.
It happened at 5.30am, repairs completed at 4.00pm.
Twelve hours for the repair gang.
Materials.
Bus charters to cover the stalled trains.
I don’t reckon there’d be much change out of a million bucks.
I’m trying to make out what’s being towed.
Looks like one of those portable lighting towers, driver forgot to retract the telescopic stem!
T.B
A light tower. A new overpass is being built to eliminate the busy, level crossing at Carsledine.
At the end of the day, or beginning in this case, it was neither a truck, or truck driver. A road worker moving equipment after night roadworks.
Ta very much SDU. As you say, not a truck nor a truck driver, but when it comes to the media anything bigger than your typical (gargantuan) SUV is a truck.
Merc 1418, bonus Mitsi ■■… (auto censor doesn’t like its actual name so I will have to laboriously type EFF KAY )
Yours? Never seen one in the flesh, but it looks cool.
I wish. A customer’s car at a regular drop, I had to take a snap.
I took this snap 4 years ago (to the day) of this BMW525 auto (E12). The engine was knackered but it was otherwise good for its age. I learnt a week or so later that someone had bought it and saved it from the wreckers.
That is a very good looking car in a good colour too.
But what is the very short wheelbase HZJ 75(?) behind it? Tractor? 6 wheels?
I honestly can’t tell you - there’s all sorts of really interesting older stuff in that yard and I barely notice any V8 diesel Toyo.
I was going to say, grab the Tojo for Frangers.
There’s a handful of old conventional Internationals and Dodges in that yard, I might see if I’m allowed to take a happy snap or two and post (with permission)
