Have a question that could do with clarification.
Box 18 of an attestation requires PLACE and DATE filling in.
Now, some people say the place should be where the letter originated from, ie. employers registered office/depot.
Others say it should be the place where the rest period occured.
Anyone have the definitive answer?
I always interpret it as the place where the form was filled out. Then it asks again on the driver section where I presume you ( the driver ) put your place of rest.
I doubt that these locations would be probed into too deeply in a French roadside check.
I always fill ours out from Halstead, at the date & time the break ends for both me & the driver to sign. Not had a problem with that so far.
Thanks for the replys. I’m still none the wiser, so I guess just carry on with what the office supplies us.
They always put our base as the place, (box 18 where driver signs), but in the last week i’ve heard two other
styles, one stating the town where the form was filled in (the day after the rest period- so not where the rest was taken),
and the second stating where the rest was taken.
there is an EU Approved Attestation Form
and a Letter of Attestation that your employer could use being a standard letter
transportsfriend.org/int/for … tation.doc
transportsfriend.org/int/for … tation.doc
I would expect the letter to indicate where the driver left the vehicle at the end of duty IE Avonmouth not where the office is etc
Ive got where the office is on mine and I was stopped last week and nothing was said about it.
Hi, interesting question! I suppose it’s as a result of having the identical form translated for all EU countries.
Here in Finland it’s usual for any document that is signed to have the date and place of signing written in, and there are places on all official forms for the place of signing as well as the date. Maybe it’s widespread in Europe - I’d imagine that this is where it comes from.
In any case, I’d doubt that there’s much jail-time involved if someone gets this wrong - but you never really know these days!
if your not having your rest at base just leave your card in then no need for attestation.
Ok but what about if you’ve maybe been driving an out of scope vehicle been on sick leave or annual leave■■? Do you put where you went on holiday or the hospital you were in.
I always put the place as where the form has been signed (my office)
