Hullo geofthecrow,
I remember Metro Freight, White and Blue with Red Lettering. Didn’t one of the Hardman lads drive for you ? Either Ken or Daryl was it.
Cheers, Archie.

Sheeplady never put you down as a shepherdess you should remember us you dealt mainly with my wife Susan sadly no longer with us. We brought lakes of wine from Pavlikeny and Suhendol aswell as fields of hops from near Celje. I remember your legendary parties, do you still live at Kirby Malzeard , best regards the Crow ps what about the Patrick White drivers Kylie et al
Hello Geoff - course I remember you and am very sorry to hear about Susan. Gone are the days of the parties - and cheap wine, but here’s a photo or two you may remember?
As to Patrick’s drivers - Steve helps run the Christmas driver get-togethers and Kylie married a British girl and has two boys and is busy farming back in NZ. The others I eventually lost contact with and some are on the above photo - Bruce, and his brother I believe? A few more faces I’m sure you and everyone else will remember.

Best Booties aka Ian Taylor remember you well mate helped you change trailer wheel studs at Londra camping once also bought a load of f89 bits off you at Stoke our original name was Metro freight Bury later changed to Eastern European Freight and finally Taylor bros Rossendale our colors were always blue and white except one f88 which was in dawnyards dark blue and yellow .Dawnyard which was run by Keith Rayner was the successor to Ski International and Arabian Freight he operated from Bury and later formed TIF he died several years ago . Incidentally my first trip was in 1976 to Craiova for Dawnyard in a1968 g reg ex Sammy Williams non sleeper Scania followed by several more to Romania and then in 1977 2 trips to Izmir all in the same truck which belonged to us and so you can say the saga had really begun best regards Ian Crow
Hi geoff,
Yeah I remember flogging off all the parts of Volvos, engines, gearboxes, cabs etc,.stuff left over from SI to raise some money to fund a few more trips before the end…
Archie no Hardmans drove for us or hard men either ,drivers were me our Tony Dave Mason RIP Dave Ireland Brian Shepherd John Tilson RIP Pete Hollick Tony Boden . Mason and Ireland had previously worked for Aylsbury and Pegler and then later for Gem Transport who had a yard in Gorton Manchester they did a lot of work for Manchester Liners on containers. Ronnie Scott the owner was an Irishman and lived in Macclesfield. When times got hard the whole fleet went overland to Saudi and did internals .His newest truck was a Scania 111 all the rest Fodens including an S80 .Tilson and Boden for Eric Hunwick Shepherd for Transcontinental Freight at Heywood and Hollick finished up after us at Dow Freight. Keep on trucking mate regards Crow

Kieth,
You’re right mate it was Strada (Graham Piper, an ex Copper) and yes I think both Alan and Tony did a bit for him.
Cheers, Archie.
Hullo Charlie,
I keep missing you on Skype, but I shall catch up again soon. I’m home again on Monday so probably early next week. How’s the Trailer business shaping up ? Very well I hope. Anyway I WILL catch up soon.
Hullo Kieth,
I think I met you a bit earlier than when I was on for Ferry Freighting mate. It was at Stalinborough. We were both loading chemicals for as you said Italy. The reason I remember that was because I was desperatevto get to a phone to call a bloke about som parts for my Lotus Cortina. There was no phone nearby that I could use. Then out of your cab you produced a bloody great big phone contraption, “here mate you can use this” you said, that really was a mobile, you needed a bloody handcart to carry it around. Happy days gone bye eh ? Do you still see anything of Dodgy these days ?
Cheers, Archie.

Hi Keith,
Do you know, now you mention it I do remember hearing something about that Cat., and I don’t think any of us could forget bloody Tucker Paul Sopiano yes, he was on for Ferry Freighting when I was, along with Billy Moore, R.i.P, Ronnie Evans, R.I.P, and Stewart Booth. I was in Thailand for three months late last year and earlier this year. I see your friend Graham Ball has opened a Bar / Club in Pattaya. I don’t know the bloke but I was going to go there one night with Steve Gray, who is also living out there. There you go, perhaps we should all meet up over there, I know a few more of the old school that are also living there too. I am back in the UK next Monday morning for a few months, then off again. Have a good run down to Spain and catch you later.
Cheers, Archie.
Rita this crows equipped with air to ground missiles so make sure your radar is working// Crow
Archie where are you now in UK or out .Did you know any of those drivers who worked for us Crow
Here’s one for you crow,me off the road at Tekirdag,a grader tried to pull me out of the ditch, but only succeeded in pulling off the front bumper.A Turkish army tank eventually got me out the next day,it cost me 25 quid. The truck behind is Roy Tatlock. We were on the way to Istanbul with a load of 2nd hand Massy Ferguson tractors.
Hello Keith, it was Strada int with Graham and his brother Mervyn, funny how a name jogs the memory but there were another pair of brothers who worked with them one of who was called Reg and had done time for the big M. I started doing Greece for Radclive Transport out of Faringdon in 79 then pretty much did nothing else but work for Mondial, Anglo Greek, Solar Marine and Intersped up until 1990 when I sold my Transcon to Dennis the rat and went to work in motor racing which is why I asked about the FH. I worked for Bernie in 07,08, and 09 until I moved to the States driving those Actros’s so I probably drove that one you’ve got; a bit gutless but immaculate inside, always highly maintained and polished every week. He’s just bought about 15 new ones, supposedly the first of this particular model in the uk, biggest engine and every extra available. On another note I used to reload for Ferry Freighting if I returned from Greece via Italy, did’nt know Billy Moore had died though, I must know you if you were a regular on Greek, did you do ferry or overland?
Charlie.
