John McVey:
It may well be but when I said I liked the big J with the RR Eagle, I was not referring to the the poor old thing in the photo, incidentally there’s some argument on this forum that the big J ever was powered by the 8 cylinder Gardner but if anybody knows for sure it will be Mr 240 Gardner himself. Over to you Chris!
Ah, but there’s no Big A on the front John, so I’ve no idea about it!

Wisely staying out of that one 240?..I wish I had never mentioned driving one for Smith’s sometimes!!!
The most glaring and obvious mistake is on his map of Saudi, and where he says that H4 is the only way into Saudi Arabia.
This is blatantly untrue, any reference to a map of Saudi, would show a perfecty good road from Jordan and down the red sea coast, I cant remember the name of the border now, but the road lead past Madina and on to Jeddah, about a 1000 miles away. This border was there by at least 1976 and possibly much sooner, as I used it the very first time I went to Saudi in 1976.
The border is Halat Amar.
GS
Al Mudawwara,(Jordan side),Halat Amar,Saudi side).
There are also three more points of entry into Saudi, from the north.
There’s a crossing from Iraq at Judayyidat which brings you out on the Tapline at A’rar.
Then there are two more border crossings out of Kuwait, one brings you out at Hafar Al Batin, then one directly south from Kuwait City entering Saudi at Al Khafji.
I’ve used them all at one time or another.

And do I know it. I got on the wrong road coming back from Kuwait, so went on a 500 mile detour.
acd1202: Amazon.co.uk currently show 3 copies of Cola Cowboys in stock, £225, but there if you want them
For guys that were never lucky enough to do the M/E,and if you have £225 to spare,go for it!
It makes me more determined to write my own book now, only cost you £100,and that’s because I know you!
Bought the book last week from amazan £6.95. You may have to work a bit harder.

Sorry to change the subject but this is important to me. After a long absence I’m back again. This time I need your help. A couple of years ago, or there about I recall that an ex M/E driver had written or was writing a book about his experiences. Try as I may I am unable to find the thread again and therefore can’t find its title. I think the book was to be written by ‘truckerash’. If anyone can tell me the name of this book and where I may be able to get a copy I would be most grateful.
Kind regards to all.

Hullo Chris,
I don’t recognise it, but I’d lay a couple of Drachmas on it that it’s a Bubble.
Cheers, Archie.
