Hi all I have my asda green card training soon its an afternoon sitting does anyone know how long theses run for and what’s involved
Its a complete load of ■■■■■■■■ mate , they aint even got the dates right on mine , its nothing but the usual rubbish to do with safety . the only thing i learned was the double decker stuff . Dont worry yourself its not a fail kind of thing .
P.S I managed to escape with a free pen … REEEESULT .
Sit in a room
Listen to some health and safety rubbish
Get a little laminated piece of paper with your name on it
Go home (Some ASDA’s make you do an assessment)
Lasts for a year.
Does anybody know how the Asda retail double deck trailers work? I’m assuming they have a hydraulic deck so can they be loaded/unloaded on a ‘normal ramp’ bay?
When you get to a store or whatever can you open the curtains for a side tip?
How long would it usually take to tip & reload?
What type of load restraints are in place?
Does one require ‘special training’ to use them(ie Asda drivers only) or can anyone use them?
How high are they?
Thanks…
I was set to do the same about three years ago, was working for ASDA through agency. On the day before the agency said it would be without pay so I politely declined.
You won’t be using a decker so don’t worry.

Why not, ive got the green card and was one off the first to get them.
I used to do deckers all the time out off Doncaster.
Hi there,
I got the Green card too, but have never had the chance to use the double deckers they taught us to use during the assessment/induction
Got the Asda green card, and a nice little uniform for 25 quid, managed 1 shift

hi asda dont open the curtian to off load it.s all though the back door
All back door tips on loading docks or bays, some Asda do the tip for you but most you have to get in the back yourself with a pallet truck which can be hard work when you are trying to move a pallet that is full of ale the Deckers have a top floor that you lower by pressing a button, make sure no buckles are trapped between the curtain and floor as they can rip the curtain. If you are a tall person then tipping the lower level on a decker can become very uncomfortable as the top level sits rather low. When going back empty you leave the top level in the lowest position so the trailer is not top heavy and you don’t risk tipping the unit and trailer over when cornering. The power to drop the top floor is done by an Anderson lead that should be attached to the trailer you are taking if there isn’t one on the trailer go and ask for one from goods in at the RDC you are working from.
Plus at some Asdas you will have to lower the suspension on the trailer so the top floor sits level with the loading dock/bay i.e the one at Barnsley. If you are agency or a subbie then you will be doing Deckers as the Asda drivers are bone idle ■■■■■ and won’t do the decker runs as they love an easy shift all the time(well at Donny Redhouse it seems that way!)
As you can see from the varied replies it depends where you do the green card. At ADC Washington you will do a short written test, with a book with the answers in, go for a short drive around the yard after being told how they want you to use the gears, and then park in a space on the back fence, they park the empties there. When I did it last year another chap failed after 6 goes at getting it parked so, yes you can fail it. They will usually show you how to use the double deckers and the tail lift trailers. If they don’t then say so when you get in & are given a job on one. Most stores have scissor lifts that you reverse onto, drag the pallets onto, lower to the ground and are taken off by the warehouse staff. One at scumberland store can fit 26 pallets on. Enjoy.
4 hours at a desk in falkirk/grangemouth and you dont go near a wagon until you are actually going out on a job. no assessment!
So how long does it take to tip & reload a double deck on a dock, on a scissor or using pump truck & forkie?

Depends how big the scissor lift is as a few stores you can put about 20 odd pallets on in one go others you can only fit about 6-8 on. On a bay with a decker you are looking at about 1 and half to 2 hours depending how quick the goods in staff are at shifting the pallets.

Saturday evening and it was my last job… pudsey store 26 mins.
When I got back they said are you going set off yet!!! I took great amusement in front iff the asda drivers saying " job done, goodbye ".
John in dispatch once told me an Asda driver did Morley store and back to Donny Redhouse in a shift! So that’s about 1hr 45 mins driving and a normal trailer tip in 9 hour
