Asda Didcot Automatic Gates

Heads up, From 5th April the new automated entrance and exit gates will go live. You will need a PO number or booking refence number to enter. The new system will apparently not allow you entry more than 30mins before your booking time.

Oh fun not ! Just as I’m starting new job which may take me there

New pastures

It’s a roll out across all Asda sites, similar to the system Tesco have in place. Didn’t know about the 30 min early bit though, Tesco will let you in 59 mins early or late.

Great idea :unamused:

Maybe this is why there’s often a big queue at avonmouth then

What becomes of the Gurkha fellas?

Maybe they will pay them to stand there and sanitize the filthy touchscreens every now and then! Of course they won’t!

Hope they find better jobs than that anyway, always got a laugh at the gate there

Tesco you can go in early , i was in litchfield 3 hrs early a week / two ago , instead of taking the screen as gospel use a bit of common sense ( seems sadly lacking in 99% of drivers ) & press the goods in button & speak to goods in , if there quiet they will allow you in .

We’ve had a few teething problems here I’ve not been allowed in or out a few times but it’s getting better with time.

Rumour has it, fridge drivers with produce are exempt… will see

At an ASDA RDC is there a separate lane just for ASDA trucks to use coming in and going out. ?

Yes but seems to be same lane going outbound.

At WalMart RDC’s they still used a gate house with manned personnel with a lane just for Wally trucks and another for outside carriers. I don’t think they’ll go to a automatic system as WalMart thinks everyone is a crook and a gate house personnel has to check all trailers that delivered to make sure they’re empty and the driver isn’t trying to steal something even though they’re not allowed in the warehouse. :unamused:
