Arrested on shift

Hull bus driver placed ‘under arrest’ by cyclist.

I would imagine the passengers would have preferred to carry on and get to their destinations on time.

The driver should have had the cyclist charged with Deprivation of Liberty or Kidnapping.

The bus driver should sue for wrongful arrest. I was a club cyclist many years ago, some of them are real nutters.

Am I reading this right? :open_mouth:
The driver actually COMPLIED with this ■■■■■■, …a wannabe robocop in lycra?
He should have drove off with him on board leaving his bike far enough away to be nicked,.then stopped further up, and rang the Old Bill himself telling them he was being threatened and prevented from doing his job.
I have found that showing to be taking these types of pricks seriously, just encourages them. :smiling_imp:

Trouble is, if he’d driven off with the ■■■■■■ on the bus, he’d have left himself open to kidnapping/deprivation of liberty charges.

why wasn’t the cyclist charged with “dangerous riding” pulling in front of a bus and stopping.

Being in front of another vehicle and stopping isn`t an offence!

Being an entitled knobhead is also not an offence, but if it was the prisons would be overflowing with, cyclists…and car, bus, and truck drivers.

Star down under.:

Afaik it wouldn’t be construed as kidnapping if he had gave the guy the option of ■■■■ ing off his bus, as he was about to drive off to carry on with his job, whether he stayed on or not…with witnesses (the passengers).
Kidnap hostages dont usually get given options.
That is what I would do whatever.

The cyclist should have been nicked for wasting police time then request for sectioning by a doctor at the station.
If not the driver should sue for defamation and harrassment obviously helped by the union.

Lycra-clad lawyer  What a knobber

Seriously, the cyclist ought to have been arrested and questioned by police, I’m pretty sure what he accusing the bus driver of was not serious enough to be in the category which would make a “citizen’s arrest” legal

If I was the bus driver I would have just locked the doors and called the police - for all the good it does to invoke those “much use as a chocolate teapot” characters :unamused:

It is crucial be the first person to call the police, otherwise if the other person gets their call in before you, then the police will side with them, as I discovered when some ■■■■■■ pie-key tip manager locked the gates to the waste site, claiming I’d scraped the paint off one of his skips :unamused: The cops were significantly interested in taking his side because him and his large family of “former members of the travelling community” were “well known” to the police in the area - basically they just wanted to keep him happy to preserve peace in the community. Such is village life in County Durham.

ain`t this the truth :open_mouth:

I got three points for driving without due care ect, after being hit up the rear by a clown in a car at lights in Royton, I never felt a thing, and knew nothing about it until the summons landed on my mat, apparently I`d reversed into him & sped off, highly unlikely on an incline and at weight, but he got first dibs, and as Zac says, first to report gets the backing off the boys in blue

To this day, I`m sure he used me as an excuse to cover previous accident damage, as it was a company car :unamused:

This was in the late 70s, but it still rankles with me :imp:

Many years ago I was driving a National Express coach out of Leicester and turned onto the A46 northbound dual carriageway in the right hand lane. When stationary at some lights a cyclist opened my door and climbed on the bus to complain I had passed too close to him.News to me I don’t know where he came from, neither did any passengers.Anyway the lights turned green and the cyclist chose to argue the toss rather than get off.I told him the next stop was Nottingham.I dropped him off a mile up the road,an unhappy chappy.Passengers thought it was hilarious.

I see no mention of the cyclist being breathylised, does the law apply to cyclists as well as motor drivers? Or is it legal to be ■■■■■■ on a bike?
