Seems nowhere is safe to park
Blimey , that sounds frightening, but I am not paid to be a security guard, that whatās insurance is for.
At a guess, most likely a fake gun, but you never know if they have knives or not.
Best to stay inside the cab, lock the doors and 999.
Sounds like they knew what was in the trailer. Prior information Iād guess.

They may have cut peep holes to see what was inside.
Unloading 14 pallets by hand should have given the police time to get there if the driver called them when he got back in the cab ?
I collected a full load of shoes from Alicante, there was the rumour that they loaded one trailer with left footed shoes and the other with right footed so they are useless to the cargo robbers.
I got to a garage off the National One in between Madrid and Burgos, there was nobody else parking there except me, it was blowing a storm all night and the trailer was rocking all night.
In a deep sleep, I heard the garage dog barking in his kennel but awoke in a panic as the trailer was rocking but no wind.
I frantically pulled open the cab curtains to see a van and a car at the back of the trailer and two men helping themselves to the cartons of shoes.
I started the engine, revved it up, blasted the air horns and they scarpered.
The garage man heard all the commotion and ran in front of the vehicles but they tried to run him over.
In the morning the Guardia Civil picked me to take me to the station and they showed me a big file with photos of all the robberies in the area from containers having the rear doors being angle grinding off and hi-teq goods stolen from TVās and other expensive items.

If a gun was involved Iād be Mr Compliant all the way.
If the Old Bill.came steaming in during the robbery, there is only one man who would be blamed for ringing themā¦the driver ā¦
So personally my phone would be left where it was to they ā ā ā ā ā ā ed off, no mistake.
As I said on another thread,. I aint paid to be a hero, and to be a hero you have to actually care in the first place.

Article says he noticed something so got out to look.
Personally if Iād of noticed something Iād of locked doors started engine up beeped horn made a load of noise scare them off maybe wake up other drivers bring attention to them.
Worst case Id of drove off
You would be allowed to move the lorry on a daily rest period for departing from the tachograph rules under security of the load and the driver then record the event on the printout.
If the police, CVU and DVSA enforcement want evidence they can check the cctv of the parking area and if necessary download data from dash cams of vehicles in the area.

Itās acceptable to use reasonable force against an attacker, not sure if driving over them would be acceptable or notā¦no doubt the driver would be for the high jump if he seriously injured or killed someone after knowingly driving off with them in the trailer.

Problem with that attitude, understandable as it may be, is that it moves the goal posts to the benefit of the robbers. Along that thinking, if I would walk up to you, and demand your wallet, you would readily give it to me, just in case I have a knive/gunā¦
Itās a tricky call to make, but simply rolling over, because āitās not mineā, will see us all being attacked tommorowā¦
For me personally, I came into this world, kicking and screaming, covered in someone elseās blood. Iāll be happy, to leave this world, in the same wayā¦

only in your home, if you feel your life is in danger. and only if whatever you use against your attacker, is readily at hand, and not kept purposefullyā¦
if you confront a burglar in your kitchen, you can use a kitchen knife to stab him once. Not so much in the bed room. If however, you have a torch next to your bed (for moments when th e power failsā¦), that is a recognised means to defend yourself. just make sure the torch is a heavy Mag light.
I remember the Greek driver who had an attempted hi Jack while overnighting in what I think was Fort Dunlop Birmingham, in defence he stabbed the robber and he died and no charges against the driver.
Iād like to know how they managed to fit 14 pallets of suitcases into a 7.5T truck

They put the smaller suitcases into the bigger suitcases and then the bigger suitcases into the really big suitcases?
