Hi all just asking, are there any agency class 1 drivers getting work at the Argos RDC at Darlington
Don’t quote me on this, but I think that some of their drivers are employed through Rapier Employment who have a branch just around the corner in Faverdale, or Drivers Direct at Bishop Auckland. Just give them a buzz to find out.
I think that the RDC’s still run by DHL.
The Class 1 jobs there are either trunking between RDCs or stores with artics or wag ‘n’ drags with demounts, or picking up boxes (containers) of imports from Teesport and bringing them back to Faverdale.
Well they don’t seem very desperate!
…I passed my assessment about two months ago, and am still waiting for my induction, so am assuming its very slow at present. That’s through Rapier btw who are lead agency, and who are also very quiet !

Been awhile since I retired from Argos,as you say DHL have or had the contract with all Home Delivery depots. I think Class 1 is inter depot ie Barton under Needwood etc etc and Container Dock work , W&D`s with demounts where used for “satellite” and Home Delivery depots.No shop deliveries, they ran out of Magna Park (until it closed) Heywood Bridgewater Basildon Castleford Bellshill and now Kettering.
Beg to differ with you lollipop but when I did a few weeks there 2 years ago they were doing stores, inter warehouse and home delivery .
By the by I found rapier totally useless for giving you anything like the shifts you wanted!

Come on BN read my wording in the first two sentences "awhile " and “i think” Things may have changed from my time at Argos,in house I might add,not contract.

I got assessed through nexus haven’t had anything for almost 3 weeks now guess it’s just dead
Argos across the network is very slow, Argos shops in Sainsbury’s are still open if you order online and the home deliveries is very busy. All the high street ones are closed so volume is very low, so there isn’t much need for agency staff at the moment. Most of my work is Argos on agency at a different depot and where I was working 5-6 days a week I am down to 3-4 days and i am one of the lucky ones.
Yes at Darlington they are doing limited amount of shop work (north east stores) The stores are picked at the main depots and trunked up to Faverdale to be cross docked onto shop trailers.
