It took a while, but Sainsbury’s is closing some Argos depots, Basildon & Heywood.
Since they brought Argos out they are changing the business model from going from stand alone shops, to internet deliveries and collecting items in Sainsburys stores. The plan is to leave about 50 stores out of approx 500 and contrate on van deliveries from 25 small hubs around the country.
They have shut Castleford Magna Park Bridgewater and Mossend, now Basildon and Heywood going which is a get shame. They plan to use Sainsburys bonded DC at Daventry, Barton & Kettering as their supply warehouse for both Argos and Sainsburys GM Products. Nothing been said about Bedford and Faverdale home delivery DC.
They are trying to take on Amazon which is a tall order. As i go to Heywood and Basildon a lot, its a get shame for them all to lose their jobs but they have a couple of years to work out what they going to do.
