I am on a full time contract with Manpower (see Idiot Agency posting for details) I am just wondering if anyone out there has any experiences they would like to share about them and their pro’s and cons?
I was with them for just over 1 year. Didn’t have any of the major headaches that tend to go with agencies. Pay was good (on pay parity for the whole time) ended up full time with the company I was agency for.
Office staff were top notch - I think this is what makes the difference.
been for them for over 4 years now, never had a problem, pays decent office staff are decent cant complain really

Yeah I agree with both of you
Are/were either of you a Cluster driver? This is the job I have with Jewson.
Only over Xmas. Not guaranteed anything else the rest of the year - but had 5/6 days most weeks. About 5 weeks out of the year I had less than 5.
Yes, I’m on the calor winter contract and they are keeping me going through the summer aswell.

I’ve trained a few of the Calor/Manpower drivers at Stoney Stanton.
There were the odd one or two little grizzles that you’d get with any group of people, but the guys were mostly quite happy with the work arrangements and pay.

Some people just like a bit of a moan, but there was no talk of revolution.
The thing with the Calor gas job is that the drivers all have to have ADR, either for gas cylinders or tankers, which is what I teach. That’s all mandated by the law and SQA, so it’s pointless having a moan about that.
After that, there’s also a fair bit of other training that Calor do for themselves, such as company safety procedures and their own ways of driver induction and assessments.
All I’d say is that some of the drivers were under the (wrong) impression that they’d be let loose in a Calor Gas vehicle and didn’t need so much training.
