Hi Paul i have been asking the same question for years but with no luck, i was involved in turning it from a gritter to a recovery vehicle and did a few miles either in the drivers seat or behind on a straight bar.
Wm Rowe & Sons went bust in the early 90’s and MHV 512L was sold by the receivers and that is the last i saw of it.

Thanks for the Reply Mate.
I beleieve it survives somewere (SORN on the DVLA website) I have know idea were tho,do you have anymore pics of it? Im restoring an Atki Gritter myself and am a member of the Atkinson owners club Gritter Register so any info of when Rowes got it and pics would be very helpful…
Cheers

All the pictures i have found so far of MHV 512L are on this thread starting on page 3, i dont have any pictures of her when she was a gritter. Would be interested to see your Atki Gritter, or be of any help.

P Whalley & Sons Ltd ran vehicles for many years from Watling Street Wilnecote Tamworth their main activities were general haulage, tipper work and cattle transportation. Houses on Orkney Drive now stand where the old yard was.

Cheers Carl not seen that picture before, that A series ERF had seen much better days and ran with the Gibbons name on the door.

It certainly is difficult to find pictures of REA. Some of there wagons were also sign written Gibbons and Washingtons. Im pretty sure the A and B series artics my Dad drove were sign written this way.

Also found this cutting today of my Dad, Im presuming this is the same Clarkes transport mentioned on this thread. Hadn’t even realised my Dad drove for them, always remember him driving for Aucotts mainly, mind you, I think this picture is probably older than me! He certainly never mentioned working for Clarkes. Not sure of the date of the cutting, but guess its mid 60’s.
