Brill silver fox
Used to have a couple of them off aucotts as shunters at the mill, & a 4 wheeler rigid which i had a night out def not the most comfartable.
Not the best quality picture but interesting all the same. This picture is taken looking down Wm Rowe & Sons workshop at Elford. Down the right hand side is two Volvo F6’s of Swish Products, down the middle is one of Rowes Roadtrains and down the right hand side is one of Hayton Coulthards Scania’s from Twyholm Scotland which ran for Eternit. Picture taken 1990.

Thoroughly enjoyed trawling through it, and can remember most of the old firms on here !
Specially the Simon J Sargent pics, can remember his maiden voyage with his brand new 1st Magnum, the red one. And Truck magazine were present at Pinnacles yard in Narborough photgraphing his every move . I was running france on traction for Pinnacle International Leicester, and we all ran down to dover together about 91’.hi gunnerheskey dont know if youll remember my dad aswell he did work for pinnicale with simon sargent too doing germany and swiss iirc he had the red n white 1635 or a red n white f12 maybe…we park in the same yard now as simon
Hi Craig D, yes i do remember seeing your dad about in the merc and the F12, also the firm i used to drive for in the early 90s AML Transport of leicester used to do traction for TNT and always saw Deeley’s at the hub in Atherstone.
Who was the driver on Deeleys with the blonde teddy boy type ■■■■■, big red dock martin boots ? used to see him there a lot …

did you used to do some haulage for briers into smurfits till they brought there over the top 500 merc i think your cousin drove that didnt he, mick harris?
i uesd to work for briers when i was 19 for 3 n half years starting on a 7.5t then on to the 17t and 6 wheeler then after starting working for my dad we started doing there artic work baled card and plastics bulk bags of granulated plastics and hazardous waste …mick uesd to driver the 8 wheeler rel and the artic but hes not my cousin we known each other since we were kids as our dads knew each other for years …but ive not seen him on there for a bit now and i havent spoken to him for a bit

time seems to fly by now doesnt it andy …was talking to a agency driver with my dad in tnt the other day who came from cliffton campville and they started remanising how ward ys drivers keept the green man going …remember going to the pub in elford when we finished for one xmas with you and others out the garage and getting a lift home in your 2.0s n you what ever you do dont throw up in here lol

Both drivers and Directors of Wards kept the Green Man going, alot of Wards truck purchasing was done in the Green Man with George Ward and salesman over quite a few beverages, them were the days!!.
I was only looking at the 2.0s yesterday and thinking i must get it out this summer!.

Yes Craig MPP mills ran out of the same place many years later, when Rowe’s looked after their vehicles they had a mammoth major, a C & E series ERF, after that they had a Volvo F7 IIRC all eight wheelers.
