anyone remember these tamworth firms

They are my uncles, they are the guys who ran d j ponsonby in b,ham
i am the second generation lol, i started in 2003 to keep the name going as djp went bust in 2002,
do you have dealings with corporate ?

Hi Mike how many Scanias do you run? are you base where Tetley Tea were on Fradley?
I dont have any dealings with Corporate but IIRC dont they do alot of traffic out of Smurfit Snodland?

yes thats me mate however we have moved now unfortunately, fradley is a great location,
9 scanias i operate
3 series 4 ,and 5 R series, and 1 x 3 series,
we do lots of low loader / vehicle recovery so if your ever in need for any breakdowns give me a call.
corporate manage all the loads from smurfitt kappa saltley & snodland someimes up to 200 loads per day

Hi Mike, from what ive seen of your trucks they are very smart and a credit to you, where are you based now? IIRC you have an x Swish driver working for you, I think Corporates traffic increased when Smurfit Kappa finished with Smurfit Mill Transport!

Dow Freight Services from Stockport ran several of these MAN demountables with drag trailers. They ran out of Reliant Tamworth with parts for the Reliant dealer network. Pictures were take in similar conditions as today in the early 80’s

i lived up the road from reliant and i forgot all about them great pics mate

A couple of companies that were not based in Tamworth but were not far away were R&D Transport Ltd and G J Rowe Haulage Ltd. Both companies ran out of The Homestead at Alrewas.

hi ya mike thats the chap your on about they do potatoes its a green f6 sleeper cab with white sign wriging last time i saw it was down at shepton mallet as i was going in to truckfest south west he was in a layby out on the road i think they are from drayton bassett i think…what about the ones that used to park at kettlebrook by the very low bridge opposite what was the park inn by the canal what were they called and there was brewers grains there yard was where buildbase is now nextdoor to what was p m atkins ,they were orange with a cows head on the door leyland bisons i seem to remember …do you have any pics of jack bootons (eddingale haulage) trucks pull for bageridge brick kingsbury before barry proctors got in there t1 thats another one , C Jones used to pull out of wilnecote brick in tilcon colours , i bet you have some photos of colin and hobson dont you carl ■■? chris darel (not sure on the spelling )
