To be fair to the OP, if company policy dictates that the lorries must be cleaned at the end of the working period (which some I’ve worked for insist on) and you’re there just waiting for your chance to wash the truck and ■■■■ off home, and then a FEW HOUR job is dropped on you, it is actually quite a bombshell. Probably already on the phone to the missus to arrange tea, or mates to arrange meet up - just waiting on this namby pamby truck frilly curtain cab happy ■■■■■ to finish polishing that 13th wheel nut for the 1000th time to wash my truck of the crap it’s accumulated over a weeks worth of work to come and enjoy my life - and then “can you just ‘nip to’” comes along…

To be fair I never spat my dummy I just said I wasn’t prepared to go out at 1600hrs after Iv sat in the yard for 3 hours waitin on a wash point.
I’m not paid by the hour and I don’t get any extra for sitting in the yard.
I always do a print out and pull my card as soon as I get back to the yard and don’t include the two hours I spent cleaning my truck every week as working Time or I would be over my hours every Friday and Saturday night.

To be honest I spent two hours cleaning the truck every week and it still ain’t clean enough.
