Anybody in Manchester interested?

And don’t bother posting pics up Colin of your time at esl , no interest in tesco tris with rubbish in them :unamused:

.

Dozy, i have done a few drops in the middle of London, the trailers were sliding roofs, there was a need to get there early in the morning, as the site foreman has booked an artic space , of which was coned off, and no parking tickets .
If i missed the booking time, then other trucks would be unloaded, and i could be there all day.
The crane would take off the pallets and lift up to 30 floors or more, if the wind picked up, the crane would be shut down.
On average, to empty the trailer could take five to six hours .
Once i had pulled open the sliding roof, i could walk around, and not be present while they unload .
As they say, some time for posh hot totty spotting .

Nice to see you fighting your corner dozy

Always confused me Toby , on normal loads we wernt allowed into London before 7 but on wide loads we had
To be there and parked up by 7
, which is why when I did them I liked them , early start and early finish , subject to like you say the crane winded off , elephant and castle was a pain for that
But haven’t been on that work for nigh on a year , though the truck I’ve just picked up is fors equipped so you never
No

Well I guess it is hard to believe they’d let me loose in central London with my record   , anyway how you getting on , I’ve ended back on agency, was ad- hoc but now full time , doing mainly aggregate work , but
Told me last Friday to pick up new truck fors equipped , don’t really want central London as it cost me to much last time when I lost the plot, and can’t even park at
Esl Dagenham as knocking it about
Brother in law so I’m told has just gone full time for xpo Easton so might look into it

Remember that Jag Land Rover job well it was a swamp ! That puddle is small in your photo I went in there when it front step deep ! At least . Them jobs look a lot different now especially oxford west gate ! That looks totally different. I had the pleasure of being winded off at Elephant and castle a few times too .

Where are all the folk who think “A job is better than claiming benefits” all of a sudden?

We know London is full of people thinking the exact opposite, when it would have used to have been Personchester - but times change, - right? Well the “…are 'ard” bit never seems to change, so I would have thought that this glut of drivers we keep hearing about (that being the opposite to a shortage we’re told about) would have this vacancy or is it vacancies dripping all over with applicants?

I worked in the Strood Swains, which is local to me. If you take the money out of the equation (which being in there on agency tends to do, being a great leveller and all…) then the job is not actually that bad. Good place to get some experience, especially if you’re a newbie. The trick is to be “paid by the hour” in there then. I would have to suspect “run ragged with 84 hour weeks and 5 nights out” occasionally drops to “3 nights out and 3x15” when someone refuses to use POA hehehe…

In fact, if you think about it - you can get a full working week done “agency wise” in only 2 nights out and 3x15… Better than 2 nights out and 3x9, where you’d be sitting around bored in a layby, with only some no speke English for company for those other hours of the day when you’re still out, but not on duty. (Stobarts anyone?)

I can’t be arsed with these firms who advertise night out money as ‘‘earnings’’, they aint earnings, they are subsistence expenses.
They only do that to make their crap money look half decent.
If they feel the need to do that, then you automatically know that they range between run of the mill and ■■■■ poor. :bulb:

Where does it say anything about night out money being included in the £700 plus.
I can`t see it with my “readers” on and a magnifying glass,or are you going off post and and just having your “tupennerth”

Maybe it doesn’t, but I was commenting on Harry’s post, where he mentioned 5 nights out. :bulb:

Fairy snuff. Just please tell me that he’s not the one man walking disaster zone in his fifties, wears glasses and has recently been turfed out of Brakes?

the nodding donkey:

bald bloke:
I wonder how many hours you need to chuck at them for £700 per week ?

5 nights out in a CF for starters… :unamused:

You can either have 5 nights out with CF or 4 nights out with Yours Truly.

…The very acme of captive audience torture eh? :smiling_imp:

Then there’s the prospect of “Double Manned”…

Heh!.gif

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
This option for me given any of those choices.
CF as in DAF, CF as in Carryfast, or worse …yourself. :open_mouth:

That narrows it down to about a thousand or so likely suspects… :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh we’ve had our fair share of their superstar rejects; one was a Portuguese fella who got sacked from Brakes after bringing a double decker back in complaining that it wouldn’t come down to temperature, he was instructed to park it at the workshops and they’d look at it when they got a chance. The eagle eyed fitter who went to look at it quickly diagnosed the problem as being that the top foot and a half of the trailer was in fact missing courtesy of a low bridge!

Our place sacked him after reviewing the cctv footage of him connecting his red airline and then clinging desperately to the back of the cab as the whole lot crashed through a security lodge and across a main road!

Our latest ex Brakes superstar picked an empty trailer up and managed to cover about 2 miles with the trailer brake still on killing 6 tyres in the process.

Can’t miss brother in law , has a haunted look about him , twitch , always looking over his shoulder , I guess 30 years of dozy as brother in law has took its toll on his mental state
