Any Tipper drivers here?

Any tips… sorry that was awful

I had my second interview today for a Tarmac/Asphalt Class 2 tipper job today, went out for the first time for a little test run to tick a few boxes for the insurance company as a new pass.

It went ok, nice people to work for it seems but who knows, find out next week if I’ve got the job.

Any thoughts guys? good first class 2 job to be on??

Yeah I am. I did about a year on pallet work I hated for the experience and then got my foot in the door got a tipping company.

Good and bad to every job but I much prefer the tipper work and ignore everything you hear about tipper drivers. Usually from people who have never done the job. It’s daunting when you first start but becomes second nature after a couple of months

Can you just, any chance of one more, get used to hearing that.

Thanks, no idea If I’ll get the job but quite fancy it for some reason and yes I’ve read quite a few negative comments regards this line of work!!

Why are they the only sector that ALWAYS has mirror guards on?

I’ve seen other trucks with them on mainly food delivery trucks.

Oh I got the job btw! let the carnage begin and we’ll test out the guards  (they haven’t got any!)

Well done, always good to hear a new pass walk into full time work rather than agency. My advice is learn to tail gate, over take dangerously whilst giving the [zb] sign, brake very hard at the last second for a roundabout, ignore all speed limits, smoke in the cab . Hope this helps lol

Brilliant stuff, I’ll be sure to do all that… need to take up smoking though

i was on tippers for 25 years, artic and Class 2,working out of Mountsorrel and Croft quarries. loved most of my time there, some great blokes to work with, camaraderie on the CB radio, and interesting working in the quarries…but…the last bloke i worked for was an a hole and working for a percentage of the lorry earnings is hit and miss…good weeks then bad weeks, wages were all over the place :frowning:
good luck in the job though, and let us know how you get on
