In spite of the fact that I live within a short day’s drive of the country I know very little about Spain and it is years since I have driven there.
However, I have to load at Barcelona on Friday the 10th of May and will drive down the day before.
Does anyone know of a truckstop on the C17 to the north of the city?
Also what does the ‘C’ sygnify, and what is the difference between the road number being marked in red or blue?
I am hoping to cross the border at Bourg Madame/Puigcerda if the road over the top is open. I think the Tunnel de Puymorens is closed for repairs.
I haven’t been there in a truck for several years David , but used to load every Thursday night at Cable Rocques at Manilleu on that road , there were several good hostelries on the road between Valls and Vic . I did drive on the C17 a couple of years ago in the car and couldn’t believe I was on the same road , its mainly duel carriageway now , not like it was years ago when C = what you and I know as D

Thanks Kerbut, that is very helpful, I wondered if C meant D, and that is good because these are the roads I usually take in France unless people want to pay me for peages.
I am due in the suburb of Esplugues de Llobregat at 8am on the Friday and not looking forward to that part. The address is in a pedestrian zone and the nearest access street looks as if there are few places to park. I will have to ring them as I approach to bring the dogs out to me. By the way, what about the red and blue for the C roads on the map? Dual and single carriageways perhaps?
I can’t remember where you are in the north west but this Thursday, the 2nd of May, I am collecting a Jack Russell from Lesvoalic in Finisterre and will then be staying the night at that routier on the southern outskirts of Quimperle. It’s on the right of the D 765 shortly before the junction with the N165. I have stopped there several times before but usually stay the night with the kennel owners. This time is different because they want him out of there as soon as possible, they have one of their own who hates him.
If you’re anywhere near I’d be pleased to see you.
The JR will be coming back to us for Friday night before I deliver him near to Figeac in the Lot on Saturday afternoon.
Thanks again for the useful info.
It might be a good idea if you can see the address you are going to on Google Street view to get a feel of the area you are going to. We are away to Spain for a week tomorrow ,so wont be about when you go through to 29. Is it SPA you rescue the dogs for ?
Edit to add: I cant do these linky things, but if you go to youtube and put in C-17 Barcelona-Vic ,it will give you a good idea of the road these days.

Already done the Google Street thing, the nearest I allow myself to a satnav, and always plan my routes with its aid beforehand. That is how I know exactly which street and the lousy parking situation there.
Had a look at the YouTube video, it seems if I find an overnight stop before Vic the run down will be about an hour. No problem as I always prefer to leave around 6/6.30am anyway.
I started by delivering dogs from several SPAs, directly and indirectly, for several organisations and associations, mostly English, but gradually as word got around I am now much occupied with more than a dozen of which at least half are French. The one I work most for is French, PAD, an association devoted entirely to Dobermann rescue. I love dogs and I love the road so it is a job made in heaven for me after retiring much too early.
Shame about a meet up, perhaps another time, hope you have a good time in Spain.
