It may well be a Wolseley, but the badge differs to the ones on the cars if you look closely, very similar, but different.

David

Yeah. The badge looks iffy, but then it looks like its got a Bentley badge on the bumper. Could the Driver have been an early Custom Freak?
I don’t remember a Wolsley p ick-up, unless it’s an Aussie. Jim

didn’t Wolseleys badges used to have a lamp in them?

They did. They were the motor of choice for the police for many years…they had a big bell on them as well. ding a ling bloody ding a ling and you were in trouble. :frowning:

Correct Brian. I had a 680 that was a moggie on steroids and a 699 that shed it’s back bumper in front of a Mk 1 Granada of the Essex finest on the A12. I wired it up in front of him in a layby just up the road and he followed me to the Claydon sneek through to the 140. Norwich Rd.
A year later the same officer pulled me over for speeding at 60 in a F88 and we ended up talking about the good old Wolseley ( I got the spelling right this time ) and no consequences. I was 23 years old. Some policemen are good guys. Jim
Back to truck stories please?

WOLSELEY:THE ONLY CAR IN THE WORLD WITH IT’S NAME UP IN LIGHTS

Wolseley’s famous electrically-illuminated radiator badge was introduced in 1933,and became a wonderful
Wolseley hallmark  - this continued right to the end of Wolseley motorcar production until 1975.

There were several variations of this Wolseley marque badge over the years, and,as far as I can make out,
there were two versions on the 1936 to 1948 Wolseley motorcar models:-
This, without any indication of the HP-model:-

And this, which shows the HP-model below the badge, which in this case is a 25 HP model  :-

The Wolseley Pickup Truck in Malc Step’s photograph is probably based on the Wolseley Series II 10/40
Saloon Motorcar of 1936-1937:-

Wolseley motorcar advertisement,1974:-

"We’d like to put a little light in your life.

The Wolseley is the only car in the world with its name up in lights. But that’s not its only distinction. When it was built in 1895, it was the very first British car. Later, Winston Churchill owned a Wolseley. So did the Duke of Windsor. Drive today’s Wolseley Six and you can see why.

You’ll enjoy vivid performance from a powerful six cylinder engine, reminiscent of the legendary Wolseley ‘Silent Six’. There’s the sumptuous and spacious interior you’d expect from the marque. The walnut fascia, rich pile carpet and deeply-cushioned seats show that dignity and style haven’t disappeared from modern motoring.

Judge a Wolseley Six for yourself. At the very least, we can guarantee it’ll put a little light in your life. Wolseley Six. The only car in the world with its name up in lights."

Wolseley marque badge lit up:-

Wolseley motorcars were very popular as police cars, and one of the most famous Police Wolseley models is:-

Wolseley 6/80 4-Door Saloon Motorcar,TYP 636 - not it’s original registration:-

TRUCKNETUK Forum is about lorries and motor trucks, and Wolseley also made lorries  :-

Wolseley CR6,Fixedside-bodied,3-Ton 4x2 Lorry,LE 5470.Ex-British WD Army Lorry-

But Wolseley’s main production was motorcars, like this charming 1936 Wolseley Wasp Saloon Motorcar
that is featured in this wonderful period and evocative advertisement! :exclamation:  :-

VALKYRIE

Had a 30,s Hornet overhead cam even then also remember that the seats had innertubes in them and you could pump them up with a bicycle pump to give you a firmer ride or let air out to suit always thought how some of the ideas they had were way in front at the time.

Ref.the old dump truck.I think Tilling-Stevens used to have that type of fluted radiator but the name looks different. Regards, 900x20. :unamused:
