Any car boot seller's like to explain

Why you have car boot sales so early on a Sunday ? Went passed one yesterday near Bristol at 07.30 and it’s packed with several hundred people what’s it all about it must of started at 07.00 if not before. Why don’t they start about 10.00 ish much more sensible for a Sunday.

Having been a seller at a car boot sale previously, I was there for 0530 every week ready to open at 0600.

I never sold any boots to any cars and never saw any other vendors with boots for cars either

I think most of the people who go to car boot sales are Stobart spotters too, you see them with stacks of carrier bags after paying a couple of quid for something they sell in the Pound Shop.

The birds father does it, he turns up here with all sorts of tat which my only involvement with it is to put in the bin before Wednesday. There is a reason those socks are cheap Nick, they only last one wash, the crisps are cheap because they are soft and past the sell by date and those 2 litre bottles of Coke for a quid are 3 for £2 in the supermarket :stuck_out_tongue:

Took my mates classic Porsche to a boot sale once.

He wasn’t happy when I sold the engine!

Some things can be worth it like maybe an old boy clearing his garage or shed out might have some useful old tools or something like that. We once brought an old fireplace from a car boot sale where most of it was reclaimed stuff now that was interesting to look round, far better than looking at cheap useless tat.
But why open so flaming early ?

the sellers go early to set stalls up before the mugs arrive to buy the junk off them
the mugs go early to get the best junk

Because all the hot ■■■■ can get flogged before the pigs are out of bed. If you’re not there for 5-5.30am when they open you’re wasting your time going as all the good stuff has already gone.

And the burgliers know this too, so while the traders are setting up their stalls Jemmy Bert and Bent Harry are blagging their gaff!

We got left with a couple of pallets of brand new mid-range tools that a customer stored and ran off without paying, anyone got any strong views on whether it’s worth car-booting them or stick them on ebay?

Carboot them. It’s all cash and you don’t have to pay postage. When someone asks a price always stick 25-30% on top and ask them it that’s ok. If you drop the price you’ve still got what you wanted and if they pay the first price you’re quids in.
You say you’ve got 2 pallets? If someone else thinks they can make more money on Flea bay let them have a go with one of them.

Cheers, I’II give a car boot a go. I do want to try and get decent money, rather than give it away, to recoup a bit of what was owed.
