Cant seem to find anyone now who lets you have your truck home at wkends.looking for a job doin containers or euro work but no one seems interested when you ask for truck home.Desperate for new job.as for wages i’m currently on £350 take home plus £18n/o and no overtime.average wage here in shropshire.sacked if you ask for more.HELP.
Get on the phone to some irish firms, You could work out of Birkenhead from where you are. The irish firms can’t exactly ask you to take the truck over there then ask you to drive your car back. Try Mcmullan transport he has a depot at wigan. Tell him you want £550 take home he’ll knock you down to £500. But you won’t do a full week for it. It’s not containers or European but it’s better than your on now.
The way the Licencing Authorities are nowadays, its either a very brave or very nieve boss that will let you take the truck home. Even parking at the local truckstop for the weekend may have repercussions for his O-licence, unless its registered as one of his operating centres.

A driver has to take his time off dosn’t he?
If the traffic commisioner says you can’t then carry on and make more money.
will try a few irish companys thanks.operating centers not a problem up here.
We even had a letter from Worcester Council once threatening action against our O licence because one of our drivers was seen parked outside Jewson on a night-out…

Yeah… carry on and you wont need to park at home. Seriously though, regular parking somewhere other than the operating centre is seen as an infringement. This might not be much of a problem with a non-UK licenced truck, but you also have to be aware of such things as night-time lighting regs if you park outside your house.

How petty can they get?
I’ve only had one spot of bother. A copper wanted to me to move my unit off the street. I told him i would put it on the car park over the road as soon as i’d finished cleaning it. That was that.
Worcester council should have been given a choice.
Leave our drivers alone or i will inform the local press that you want tired drivers to drive through your area.
Still see the odd wagon parked in the same place for the weekend, so there’s still a few doing it.
Clem.
I’ll ask about this week. Let you know if i come up with anything.

Am I reading this right? You’ll get the sack if you ask for more money?
I ask for money on a daily basis, and I aint been sacked yet !!! laughed at, but not sacked.
Seriously tho’, have you tried looking for a job in Telford? There’s work about here. I don’t think I’d want to park my motor outside my house in Telford, I like it with it’s wheels and batteries on thanks.
Good Luck.

Kate i take it from what you say you live in one of the desireable estates in south Telford
HSF Logistics let you park at home or a safe parking area, Try M&R Int at Bedworth they are the agents for them. Take home is £595-£685, but you do work for it
Wonder if there’s a company that will let me take my motor home… I have a basement flat - lol
DONT want to park it outside my house in telford.got secure parking here and plenty of it.Kate i do understand where your coming from though.there are a few light fingerd people about those south side estates.as for work in telford there is but mostly agency and most part of the local cartel with regard to ourwages.asked for a payrise last week and was told theres the door.most of our drivers can afford to live on our basic as most of em are past retirment age and no mortgage.lucky buggers.

cheers.will give them a call.
Vos Logistics. They have an office in the Scottish borders, but no yard (Dutch company). 5 day week (occasionally out on Friday night if you get a delay). Is tautliners general haulage driving NL plated left hookers. Easy work 450-500 a week take home without having to work stupid hours.
They pick you up on your first day, drive you to their base give you an induction, throw you your keys and off you go. They’ve got drivers all over the country.
The down side - left-hand drive wagons, some of the trailers are out of the dark ages and it’s monthly pay,
The problem with these foreigners letting you take the truck home is that you only get home when it suits them. You only get to go on holiday when it suits them, as you have to take the truck back if you dare ask for a holiday.
When I left, I even had to pay my own ferry home. I had already missed my holiday flight 3 weeks previously.
