Another Depot Fire

There’s been rather too many such events of late, more so around America then here in Britain.

Tesco lorries burst into flames as fire crews race to Scots blaze

The USA, with 5 times the population, and 30 times the area, has more fires than the UK`s one recent depot fire?
Really?
WOW! Hold the front page!

What I was getting at here, is that a lot of depot fires on both sides of the pond - are going largely unreported.

“Reported News” is the tip of the iceberg the media wants you to pay attention to, and let’s be frank - “depot fires” and the questions such incidents raise - isn’t top priority - is it?

The media’s job should always be to “Report the news, and raise hell!” - nothing more, nothing less.

Why would 2 trucks getting burnt in Tesco Livingston be of any concern to anyone in America ?
Why would a depot fire in America be of any concern to anyone in the UK ?
The news reports the important stuff depending on where you are - not much need for tornado warnings in the UK is there ?

Guess this will be used to reinforce the “why you should be in a tiny uncomfortable waiting room” instead of your cab mentality of every RDC again. Rather feel forbtye drivers who wouldn’t have gotten chance to get any personal stuff out the cabs.

Looking at the second pic, looks like it was the fridge of the DAF which went bang. Guess with the back doors open they run like hell and something goes badly wrong.

As for our resident conspiracy nut - this stuff is probably only noticed by the local papers for the most part, so only makes the nationals if its really big or they are short of stories. Fire in a waste paper bin at ASDA Wakefield RDC is unlikely to make it anything more than the online Derby Telegraph (they don’t care where Wakefield is). As for RT, err, ok…but they didn’t blame it on the Ukraine…RTs editor will be falling out of a window soon!

The Michael Fish incident in 1987 related to a reported hurricane, not a tornado! The latter is a different kettle of er… fish.

But apparently we do occasionally get tornadoes here in the UK. Fortunately they are rarely strong enough to cause significant damage.
