Another cyclist dead

I think it is immature to block certain people just because you don’t agree with them, apart from showing you have no answer to their arguments. You never know when anyone on here will come up with something to help you out, by accident or design, you don’t have to like, or agree with everything they say, but I just cannot see the point of blocking someone on a forum.
As they say, even a blind squirrel finds a nut occasionally.

So why post? And what is ******?

I decided not to post the cyclists name, the lorry drivers name or the vehicle operators name(the bush telegraph told us the operators name within a couple of hours & the location btw).Sad to say the coroners verdict did not call Tfl to account as how they managed to make an already lethal interchange worse with the cycle “super highway improvements”, However I’ve got to say that on a daily basis I see plenty of cyclists in Lewisham,Deptford,New Cross,Peckham & Camberwell jumping red lights at junctions & pedestrian crossings!!!

Are you worried people wont see what you’ve posted? FWIW, one person I ignore because they play the same record so much their username should be “HeartFM” and the other just posts indecipherable rubbish like “I much not like British drivers not work driving for Tescos” and “I much like eat Swan with Aldi vodka nice very late night. Tasty.”

Ha Ha, for Easter dinner we eat tasty carp fish, maybe you tell where is good place to catch, Oxford or some place in Cotswolds please Mr Messaway  (gotta have a bit of a laugh mate)

Yes I know and we all see other drivers doing it all over the the country every day, it happens so often these days the Highway Code should change to " when lights turn to Amber just floor it, sometimes you’ll make it & sometimes you won’t"

I’m not bothered if it gets read or not tbh. At least the Europeans on here have an excuse for getting it wrong on occasion, some of the efforts on here from the locals can be downright embarrassing. Spelling, punctuation & grammar seem to have gone out of fashion on here. You can see why they don’t have it on the DCPC, the country would come to a standstill overnight.

Left hand down!:
As you are the trucknet resident cyclist and apologist, it begs the question: what are you doing here?

Can you offer any good reason why I shouldn’t post?
Your the ones posting about cyclists

Slackbladder:
Is that the drivers equivalent of putting your fingers in your ears, stamping your feet & shouting “I can’t hear you la la la”? Very mature.

I’ll have a sensible debate / argument with anyone, but when it’s as immature as some of his posts, what’s the point. He’s nought more than a troll in my opinion, maybe not in yours, but it’d be a boring old World if we were all the same, wouldn’t it.

I drive lorries,I also drive a car,i used to ride a motorbike and I have cycled all my life.

The labelling of people on this site is just unbelievable, everybody is wrong unless you’re a truck driver and everbody else should know better or just get the ■■■■ out of the way because I’m a thick, heathen Lorry Driver and I rule the road and I know better than everybody else because I’m a ‘Professional Driver’!!

Not every cyclist is an idiot, nor is every ‘car driver’(every lorry driver has a car) :unamused: nor is every motorcyclist, but the arrogance of some of you suggest that it’s always wagon drivers that know best and have every right to do what they please!!

Well, I’m not a truck driver, and one thing that has always put me off driving trucks on the road is the behaviour of other road users around them.

It was bad enough driving farm tractors on the road, people in cars seemed to assume you could only do 5 mph and your one braked axle could stop you and your laden grain trailer in zero feet. And that a right-hand indicator approaching a field entrance just past the ‘beware tractors turning’ sign meant “now would be a really good time for you to overtake me.”

And don’t even start me on the idiots who tried to pass when the tractor was turning with an implement on the 3-point linkage on the back and suddenly found their path barred by a very solid steel item covered in blades and spikes.

“You could have killed me with that thing!”

“Really? I don’t remember telling you to drive that close to me.”

I am however a ‘vulnerable road user’ on motorcycles and a pedal cycle.

Only a tiny minority of the vehicles I encounter on the road are trucks…but the vast majority of trucks are driven with great care and courtesy extended to me on my bike. I’ve noticed this in traffic conditions ranging from towns and cities to major and minor rural roads. I feel safer on my push bike being passed by a 44-tonne bulker than I do being passed by some silly old bat in a 4x4 who can’t look over the top of her steering wheel or a Grand Theft Auto graduate with a Fiesta and a baseball cap.

Overall, most truck drivers do a very good job most of the time in making allowances for the behaviour of those around them, and most of those who are the most critical of truck drivers are either incompetent drivers themselves or do not drive at all.

So Happy Easter everyone, and let’s all consider our own behaviour and competence on the roads before we bad-mouth others!
