An observation... I could.........!

You know I had a serious caper last year which nearly cost me my potty little life.

If I so chose, owing to the nature and severity of the injuries sustained in my attempt at flying, I could return to the UK. I could land, go to the doctor and hand over the records and never have to work again. I could go on disabilty and be well off, all things considered. All I need to do is walk a little more gimpily, puff and pant a bit and claim the pain I actually feel.
Just think, I could be paid by all those who still have a job, housed in some manner, spend all my time nursing pints in the pub and be a slacker for the rest of my life. I could stop doing 100 hours a week, and it would be easy.

But I can’t do it. I can’t go back because I really wouldn’t want to be there in the UK. I spent a week there at the end of May, and it was bedlam.

So I think I will continue working hard and enjoying where I am.

You should put this on the UK drivers forum, set the moggy amongst the flying rats

I did consider it…

Didn’t realise you still suffered from your injuries Rob. I hope you get fully recovered soon.
As for the work. If it makes you feel better i am weekended in Ellensburg Wa and am heading into my 7th week of work without getting home for a full day off! By far the longest i have ever done.

I’m catching you up Mark, after our little Vegas shindig I went home via Alberta, dropped the new wife off, then went to Florida, back up to Alberta again, then to New York & now I’m on my way to Mississippi, I’m currently reseting in Council Bluffs so as I’ve got tons of hours, I’ll either be running to Alberta from wherever I reload or turning in the yard again & to keep the topic on thread, I would stay out until xmas rather than be home every night in the UK, or even go on the Scouse Pension as Rob could do

The thought of nursing a few pints in an English pub sounds very appealing ,a lovely pint of Butcombe Bitter,I digress. You say it would be easy to turn from what you are now into just another parasite, mate you’d be climbing the walls after the first day.As we both know the hand out system over there is the main reason the country is going down the toilet.Don’t get me started .

Exactly right.

I could do it easily enough, and with the dragon being classed as disabled now we would, in fact, have it made over there as far as finances are concerned. Just think, the house, car and beer would be paid for…

But I was just over there for a week and the place ■■■■■. I got into one real skirmish and one where I just got rude and suggested a movement elsewhere, and that was in one week. And I watched the others there. Their whole lives revolved around getting hammered all weekend. One guy was asleep on the bar when I left after my last visit more than 3 years ago, and he was asleep on the bar in exactly the same place and position when I went back this time… How sad is that?

Mark, yes I still have a lot of discomfort. Hopefully they will be able to do a little Frankenstein work on my shoulder so I can set the metal detectors off in the airports which will save that from popping out of joint all the time, but the spinal stuff (which supposedly occurred earlier, that’s my story and I am sticking with it) would take a lot more than I am prepared to have done and would leave me with wired vertabrae. The damaged ribs they cannot help as they are not ones they can remove, and the sternum will be spammed for good. The lungs are not too bad really. I cannot inhale as much as I could so I get short of breath sometimes is all.

If you go out on quads, please be more careful than I was.

hi there,i would check on that if i were you bobthedog, its not just as easy as your thinking,if you have not paid in to the system for 2 years you have no rights to claim from the uk government system,or at least to claim dole money,i was going to claim unemployment and went to the dole office and was shown the door, asking them what about all the years i paid in■■? i was told it dont count as you have not paid in for the last 2 years,so i went for a pint,be very careful before you make any moves like that and expect to walk back into the uk,thats all i can say.

I wouldn’t claim dole. Because of my wife being so ill they can not refuse her. We are still citizens and are entitled to some benefits regardless. It is a very strange system.

Regardless, I won’t go back.

What about all the flipping immigrants into the United Kingdom ? Those [zb]s have NEVER paid into the government system, let alone in the last two years, not forgetting citizenship.Seems they manage alright on handouts from the state !!
B##loc##,I’m getting bitter and twisted just remembering that crap.

The first word isn’t allowed, so I’ve manually removed your dodge, but the second one is OK and doesn’t need you to dodge the auto-censor, cos lots of folk write ‘■■■■■■■■’ on here.
:bulb: Just type the word you wish to use, then if the auto censor gets it, it’s not allowed so it’s then best to leave like that.
You can use the ‘preview’ feature to check. dd.

top of the the morning to all the hard working ex pats out there, i am new to this site and i was just reading some of the woes of the drivers back home in the uk some of which were there and it seems like have always been there ie little to no respect, office personel who seem to think that the job couldnt run without them, lack of suitable parking/ rest areas , but some of the stuff their talking about makes me feel like i would be starting from new if i went back [ which isnt goining to happen] i am just glad that i dont have do deal with it it makes my life seem easy in comparison thanks john d
