One for the mods here, do you guys n gals not think that it’s about time for an amnesty for SOME of our premodded members? I’m speaking notably about Eagerbeaver, Carryfast and Dozy. Yes, I grant that all three may well be moon howling lunatics, but (IMO) they are very worthwhile contributors.
Personally speaking I read various threads and only click back on when there are new posts. Now unless someone quotes their posts I miss them as I only read the newest posts since I last read.
I wouldn’t dream of telling you how to do your jobs, but would you maybe concede that their continuing jail sentence is slightly detrimental to the forum and results in a slightly negative impact?

Asking the question is fair enough; but due to the rules, we do NOT comment on any specific person.
From time to time, the Mod/Admin Team discusses the subject of who should or should not remain on pre-mod. Such a discussion was taking place pre-COVID, but that got interrupted by the fact that everybody’s lives got such a massive disruption.
Still speaking very generally, those on pre-mod who have demonstrated a willingness to abide by the forum rules may be considered for ‘release’ by the Mod/Admin Team, but the rules require an absolute majority vote in favour. If the vote goes in that person’s favour, then they get a PM that seeks assurance that the original behaviour or posting style they previously exhibited won’t be repeated, then they reply agreeing to that by PM. (Paper trail.) Only then do they get ‘released.’ TBF, IMHO there are a couple of candidates for this.
I can also say that some of those on pre-mod will probably not even be considered in the first place because they’re a non-starter due to the fact that they have demonstrably not yet learned the lesson of why they’re on pre-mod. This is usually, but not limited to, those who continue to post random crap, unsubstantiated theories or generally take topics off-topic to the annoyance of those who have made legitimate complaints either openly or by PM.
Thank you for taking the time to reply Dave. I fully understand what you’re saying and I appreciate that the premod question is at least under consideration. Again I appreciate that you can’t name names, fortunately I’m not constrained thus but was merely voicing my opinion.
I agree that certain disruptive posters should not be considered for release and to be perfectly frank that shouldn’t be in possession of a pair of lungs never mind a keyboard.
I also appreciate that the mods do a sterling job and are all unpaid volunteers with real lives going on as well. That particularly was one of the reasons for my first post; I’m sure that the mods have better things to do than proof read premodders posts, so my thinking was that the less members who are on premod the less work for the moderator team. Plus, as I mentioned it completely disrupts the flow of the thread when a post is later shoehorned in.

As for any ‘learning of lessons’ I would like to make my position crystal. I thought the vast majority of my teachers were knobs. I thought my own Father was a knob. The chances of me ‘listening’, ‘learning’ & ‘improving’ based on total strangers opinions is the same as Elvis becoming my night driver.
Basically I would rather ■■■■ the moisture out of one of my own turds than pander to self appointed authority on an internet forum. The Beaver is funny, intelligent, handsome and now on a very good screw courtesy of having a titanium & diamond infused spine which does not bend.
I am TNUK’s greatest ever driver & martyr, please leave me alone to be admired by the non sheeple on here.

There are yet others who clearly suffer from alcoholic paranoia or alco-psychosis who become embroiled in counter-trolling on a tedious scale, upsetting lots of TN participators and costing endless moderator time and effort to keep the show on an even keel. Having said that; if you are trying to temper your posts by keeping off the sherbet a bit, then I raise a glass to your wise intentions .
