good day gentlemen my son is coming over to America in February and was looking to rent a car for part of his time there, he was looking to do a one way rental from san Francisco to los Angeles’s or some thing like that. more expensive than a round trip we know. just wondering what we should look out for, hidden super collision waivers or mileage additions over a small printed amount. anything that might help would be appreciated. regards, alan.
Has your Son booked his flights yet?
If not then he should look at booking the flights and car hire as a package.
You often get a much better deal when booking them together.
Just an idea.
I’ve often hired a car when out in the truck somewhere interesting (including San Francisco) and generally speaking its cheap as chips for a low spec car. Where it adds up are the extra insurances, which for peace of mind I always max out on, usually this doubles the end price but with America being what it is, with all of its sueing and what not, and me not being an American and not wanting to get caught out with any nasty surprises, I just cough up and purchase the whole lot.
thanks for that gents, he has booked already, and we did think lots of insurance was needed.
Expext to pay a large One Way rental surcharge, in my case it nearly doubled the original cost of the hirer…
I used to work in car hire, and over here at least, hiring from the airport is more expensive than getting a taxi to a town depot and hiring from them. One way fees will still get charged though.
