Am I asking to much

Hi, Been thinking/wanting to do euro work for over a year now but am thinking that I wont have much of a chance because our eastern European friends are prepared to live in their truck for months on end. Do you think I will be asking to much to be home every other weekend? A friend told me to try the irish companies as I live on the north wales coast and am handy for Holyhead and Liverpool docks, but as I say I have heard most of the irish have the poles driving for them and are happy to be over Europe for weeks on end, Also limited on experience as well. lived in Germany for 10 years and loved it, however never drove a truck over there. Now I know somebody is going to come on and say pack your car and go over Ireland and knock the doors, which I am happy to do but don’t want to go over if my presumptions are right and they all say that I have to be away for weeks on end. what do you reckon. Cheers.

It all depends on how hard you look in answer your question. I do Euro and I’m home every weekend  Well I say that, I do get weekended some times but its usually because the return load goes wrong and is not ready. That’s no one’s fault it just the way things go sometimes.

As for the Irish you are way off base there - The Irish trucks are wait for it - usually driven by the Irish

The lads I know tend to do two weeks out at a time which they find acceptable.

If your in Wales I know its a long way south try S&K I’m sure that take drivers with limited experience I don’t know how long they are out for though.

Anyone working for an Irish firm that’s away for weeks is choosing to do so.
Lots are expecting a 24 to be taken abroad but will get you home for your 45.
If you’re near Holyhead, you have a great chance of getting home more often.
As for packin the car and coming over, it really is the best way.
Done deal jobs Ireland into Google for lots of jobs.
Best of luck

S&K, in Barry, can offer Benelux work, which should have you home pretty much every weekend.

Coming over would be the best thing dixon are always looking for drivers but think you have to live in ireland to work for them

I said I wouldn’t do this, but our boss is taking on one more driver. It’s Euro work but in vans. Wages are OK and I get home fortnightly. Sometimes weekly. You’ll have to email me if you’re interested, cos’ I’m on the naughty step. :unamused:

That’s a bit of a treck back home on a Friday night tho, from south to north wales.

I work for S&K and live in Mid Wales, (Llanidloes) I do 2 weeks away on long haul work, only time I’v not got home hs been due to load problems, not the companies fault. May be late on a friday but do get home every other week. Try ringing them and negotiate hours from there. They do take inexperienced drivers and will train you on euro work, ie send youout with an experienced driver.
