I didn’t know Funstons had packed up?

When TIR started I had a whole run of failed outfits. It became a way of life,so much so that I used to leave good paying jobs just to be on the safe side. Bosses thought I had a short fuse but it was years of ducking & diving made me quick on my feet. Lost count of the outfits I been with. The last one to pack up was Breda. But I had already left. Before that was an old established Swiss firm but I had also left a few months before. C’est la vie ,Pedro.

Yes Harry i done that.
I left Pierces because i heard rumours. The worst mistake i ever made. He is still going strong.
But at the time i thought nobody would employ me if 4 in a year had gone under.
Spose thats what life is all about learning from mistakes.

Trouble is it becomes a habit, you never fully relax in a job & make plans for the future, its like an Indiana Jones way of life, pure survival.
I put my back into firms & had an easy time on firms but they all seem to go bust one way or another. I tried working for small family firms & multi-nationals ,there is no magic formular, its all truckers luck.

I bailed out at macfarlanes in leeds a couple of yrs back thinking I was been clever ? get myself a new job before the local transport companies get swamped with 120 newly laid of drivers…two weeks later they went ■■■■ up and all the drivers got a £1500 pay off which I didn’t get because I left two weeks earlier ?

I feel a bit the same, I’ve worked for 11 companies since starting work in 1984. Of those only 3 including the one I work for now, hasn’t either gone bust or had a major restructure with loss of jobs.

Ive been to 4 job interviews for HGV in the past 8 years. 2 jobs I got. The other two I got turned down (luckily for me as they both went under within 6 months of my interview)

So the lesson there is for prospective employers.
If m1cks comes for an interview, you’d better start him
