Just as BT cut 10,000 more jobs!
Bit of a reverse post really, for me truck driving is the alternative career, spent many stressfull years as a social worker…
I’ll get me coat…
But am fairly stress free now I’m driving for a living
i’ve sent my CV to Hargreaves
re slight change of career
just awaiting a reply
Sort of had it forced on me 18mths ago, now am a part time farmer and work for a local agri contractor mainly form March till November but do get the odd days in between. I also do a bit of relief driving for a local firm if I’m not busy. It’s the best move I have ever made, and wouldn’t like to go back full time HGV driving.
Also, I would suggest some of you try some local agri blokes for some work. The silage season starts at the beginning of May till end of November, and all it is is hauling a trailer, dead simple work. Pay is usually £7/8 per hr with plenty of Hrs and a good crack. Plus you could get the chance to learn some new skills. I know its a drop in wages, but there’s no tacho/hrs laws.
I would like to know more about I.T. jobs. There appears to be a lot of offshoing going on plus Watch dog recently covered a story about a training co. called Scheidegger who were the equivelent of Sterling ,Pathway etc.If some folks are doing well in I.T. then I am pleased for them.
I’m currently importing clothes for highstreet retailers, from Asia.
Can’t get a driving job for love nor money round here - would do anything to get out of this ruddy suit and tie job
Im currently taxi driving which i quite enjoy to be honest.Love the flexibility not to keen on the pricks i get in my car on fri and sat nights though.Money is ok where just like the haulage industry youve got to put the hours in and obviously whilst your sitting round your not getting paid. Was talking to my mrs this morning about earnings and been doing this job nearly 12 months and i am better off now than i was driving lorries.Wont be doing it forever but it will do for now
