Any chance of making this a sticky so the petition link is easily found as losing Alex Lester due to cutbacks is disgusting! We pay the BBC through our tv licence so surely we’re allowed a say in who/what we listen to■■?

Agree’d … This woman is a bain on the world, she has a 90 minute show, the first 60 minutes are BS and the last 30 minutes are her telling us what she did in the first 60.

Just heard Bob Shennan, R2 controller, on Feedback R4. Basically he does not give a fig about night time listeners. He is offering “quality repeats” of sounds of the 60s 70s and 80s in place of live and interactive radio. Someone will get upset so let it be the poor sods working through the night.
The words I want to use to express my displeasure will be zb’d out!

Drivetime, maybe ask Johnnie Walker back or Scott Mills who must be getting too old for R1?
I think there should be a digital option for R2, to cater for Country, sodding Organ music, etc. shovel your Jo Whileys etc onto that to look after their “niche” listeners. Michael Ball and Elaine (hope she breaks both legs) Paige on there too.

This is just downright wrong! Radio was always supposed to be a live media so sticking repeats on isnt really moving forward. I agree with the deposing of veltz… but I would like Sara Cox on the air instead.

Sara cox has a horrible voice and spends all her showtime talking about the same subject. That subject being herself. Alex Lester interacts with his listeners which has always been a reason to tune in for me.
i had regular runs 7 years ago and caught wolfie on real radio in the morning then talk 107 in the afternoon. Both shows invited txts from listeners which keeps them interested. Listening to someone rabbiting on and on is not interesting

Thank you for the support, and we’re pushing close to 1,500 signatories as we speak.
But as you are aware, 1,500 isn’t much to make the BBC sit up and listen. We need much more support than that. Please keep spreading the word, and let people know how important the LIVE radio show is to people like you guys, who worked so hard around th clock, while the nation sleeps.
