Alex Lester

I like listening to Alex Lester I do get his humour I will miss him also like Richard Allinson but they are getting rid of him ( even when he sat in for Chris Evans he got more listeners

I dislike Feltz turn off when she comes on still dont like Steve Wright but never did

They are going to repeat sounds of the 60’s with Brian Matthew ( normally listen to him on a sat mor like his knowledge ) sound of the 70’s listen to Johnny Walker on a sun afternoon in any case so why would I want to listen again  then sounds of the 80’s take or leave it with Sarah Cox

Make a mockery of the iplayer

Janice LOng take or leave her ( do like fact she does play so alternative stuff & is an avocet for live music & there venues ) then we should have Alex Lester 2-6.30 then Richard Allison Ken Bruce ( as like pop master ) then we need someone to replace Vine Chris Evans 14.00 -17.00 then Simon Mayo 17.00 - 19.00 after that depends what night it is for the blues / folk / jazz programmes then bring back Stuart Marconi & Mark Radcliffe till 22.00 then have some of the doc that they have

Keep Trevor Nelson Huey Morgan Bob Harris

Defo get rid of Anneka Rice from the sat morn show as she not much better than feltz get rid of Claudia Winkleman

I only listen to rad 2 for the Dark lord. so that will be World service overnight or podcast or mp3, from september when on an early start, or better phrased every day off the week.

As many have said, on alot off these bbc radio stations these days, they want celebs not broadcasters.

In the last year or so, I’ve actually started to wonder why we have a BBC, or more to the point a licence fee, the BBC doesnt talk to me that much these days, not even 5live as much as it did once, all they seem intrested in is stories with which they can bash the austarity measures.

Programes like Alex lester or Radcliffe and Maconie, seem to get ditched and replaced with celeb trype, maybe I’m just out of step with modern life :unamused:

Nope dont think you are out of touch most of these presenters I have not heard off until they come on radio not interested in celeb culture have no interest this is poss why I dont have a tv so no I dont pay license fee so

Save the man --Dump that woman.

Very sad to hear this about Alex; listened to him right from his early days in Manchester when he lived on his narrowboat during the week and went home to Hastings at the weekend. A sad loss to the the early hours!

Any of you remember another late night show which the BBC ‘dumped’ - Sheila Tracy’s Truckers Hour? Loads of us night-shift drivers complained at the time - never even got a response! I also wrote and told the BBC I was turning off Radio 2 completely as a personal protest at the unfair treatment and sacking of Jimmy Young (can’t stand that Vine bloke, anyway) but again, no comment from the beeb.

IMHO, very few broadcasters today can hold a candle to a man who is still missed and mourned by a legion of older lorry drivers: I refer, of course, to the late, great, Ray Moore - the voice of the early mornings. Anyone else remember him and his traffic reports about ‘indivisible loads’ and ‘abominable loads’? Always worth a laugh and you sometimes didn’t actually mind about being stuck behind one!

Steve

“the bog eyed jog” and “my father had a rabbit” , top tunes, which i still have copies of on my hard drive…LOL

used to like jonathon ross on radio 2 saturdays, then when he buggered himself up with russel brand and was suspended, huey morgan and lisa tarbuck took over his show for quite a while, they were brilliant!!.then they gave the sat slot to graham norton-■■■■■■■ dreadful radio!! as for aneka rice in the morning-FFS!! quite like brian matthews sound of the sixties ,and tony blackburn after one o’clock though.
cant ever forgive radio 2 for getting rid of jonnie walker from the drive time show

It was listening (purely by accident) to Ray Moore that switched me from Radio 1 to Radio 2. The Bog Eyed Jog with Irish singer Rose Marie (with a “laugh like a draymans Horse” according to Ray!) and his dry wit was unbeatable! I have both his books upstairs somewhere, written when he was poorly and finished by Alma Moore after his death. The missus was also a R1 fan at home but I converted her with Ray and we still only listen to R2. Enjoyed Wogan (still do on Sundays) can stomach Evans but Vine annoys me (JY could wipe the floor with him, and he was basically a singer, not a journalist!) and Steve Wright is well past his prime so we switch off at noon after Ken Bruce. Haven’t listened to Alex for years (now Retired so still asleep  ) but he was superb in his narrow boat days and it will be a shame if he is being moved against his wishes, however when have the BBC ever listened to what the paying public want eh?

Repeats of Brian Matthew (sounds of the sixties) and Johnny Walker (sounds of the seventies) wont be TOO bad for those who wont have heard the shows but it will be a poor substitute for a live show in my opinion.

Pete.

Yea ditch the dark lord and keep Feltz and " love the show" Wright. And Zoe " I talk so fast and am really out of breath" [zb] Ballbag

[zb] genius. [zb]s! :unamused:

Christ; Bad enough having Brian “That was the third song from this year beginning with the letter P to get to number one” Mathew on on a Saturday but to repeat him when I’m half asleep already.

I like listening to Alex Lester although I wouldn’t listen to his show all the time, but its a shame if he’s going.

That fat lump Feltz really gets up my nose, what a load of dung she is to listen to, I can’t stand her whining voice always droning on about some depressing topic, It’s time to switch off when fatty comes on the air !!!

I’ve been listening to LBC more lately, I like some of the lively debates they have on there and 5 Live for the sport. Apart from that that it’s the CD/ MP3 tunes :sunglasses:

ive got DAB in the car, there’s so much choice, just wish i had it in the truck.,
but i suppose i could get one of them tuners and link to the normal radio…

If he goes, can we have repeats of Bruno Brookes from years gone by? Used to get all the early morning drivers phoning in for a laugh…anyone remember Powder Puff? As camp as Christmas!

totally agree with everything said about ray moore , jimmy young , and wogan. my problem with r 2 is that if as driver youre listening for up to15 hours a day,its the same songs over and over, and most of it is for under 50 year olds anyway.when you think how thousands of records have been recorded thru the 50s 60s 70s etc , probably half of them never get heard, they just seem to play the same ones all the time. agree with what was said about talksport being ruined, they used to have non sport progs on in the daytime as well as night.why cant we have a national talk radio station on day and night with someone like mike parry or ian Collins , people who would keep you awake at night , not like 5 live who send you back to sleep. been retired 6 weeks so not a problem anymore!!!

I don’t mate but all the barber shops in Witney have it on. Hearing it once every six weeks is bad enough for me.
I’m in the age group that’s too old for R1. Too young for R2 (or now they have Balding, O’Grady, Norton etc…not gay enough either), I don’t lick windows so I can recall Heart FM playing John bloody Legend for the 3rd time in an hour. Too tight to fit a DAB radio and Ipods etc are too technical.

I’m pretty.much the same as Cotswold - still listen to radio 1 for lunch and drivetime but no longer their target age (I did listen all day when we had Dev, Chris Moyes and also Sara Cox covering, but they’ve become so obsessed with box ticking that they’re just putting talentless people on air purely because of their gender or ■■■■■■ persuasion). Too young for R2. If in london i’ll listen to LBC but I mainly listen to local BBC now and five live at night.
Can’t stand Heart - it’s just pure drivel.

Just to point out the Radcliffe & Maconie show is alive and well on 6 Music. If its music you want 6 Music is for you. My Pure Highway stopped working a while back so bought a cheapo portable one from Argos for £25. Works a treat hung up, well worth the investment.
